Outside/Inside: How a Job in Sales Puts You on Both Sides of the Travel Industry

by | Feb 16, 2017 | CAREER TIPS, INSPIRATION, INTERVIEWS | 0 comments

Sales isn’t all about talking. In fact, listening could be considered one of the most important skills for a sales person in hospitality, according to Natasha Lawrence, Senior Sales Manager at the Andaz London Liverpool Street. Sales managers must constantly have their ears open – listening to guests, listening to the market, and listening to competitors – in order to provide the most effective strategies for increasing the revenue in their own hotels. But a sales manager’s responsibilities are vast: from being a Brand Ambassador in the industry to being the voice of the consumer in her property, Natasha is always on her feet.

She has worked in different areas of a hotel, but it’s the excitement of being on both sides of the travel industry that propelled her to join the sales team. Communicating with clients (and understanding which channels they want to be communicated to through) as well as reporting analytics are daily tasks Natasha must tackle, but it’s the ability to engage in these varied jobs that keep her going. Watch the video to hear more about the trends Natasha sees in hotel sales and her input on what makes a great sales manager.
