Of course The Ritz London is one of the most famous hotels in the world, but did you know that most of its reservations still come in over the phone? Ben Veale, Assistant Reservations Manager (promoted to Reservations Manager since this shoot—congrats, Ben!), sat down with hosco.tv to talk about what it’s like to be part of a dynamic 17-person department, what a typical day at the Ritz is like, and what his clientele expects during the reservation process. Calling this department’s responsibilities “massive,” Veale explains that they oversee every room reservation, dining reservation, and quite a few spa reservations as well. They answer between 300 to 500 calls per day, respond to between 200 and 250 emails, and work closely with every department in the hotel to “tailor design” guests’ stays. It may be a surprise to learn that most of The Ritz London’s reservations come from guests wanting to speak to someone directly over the phone.
