The Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience offers a world class visitor experience while offering world class care for its staff. We are one of a kind. The physical environment 750 feet above the Atlantic Ocean, with 1.6 million visitors in 2019, will attest, they are one of the most spectacular sights that one can wish to see or work in. We embody the hospitality that we show to our visitors. We want our staff to be the best, importantly to be themselves, to make a real difference to the experience of the visitor, our community and to each other. The level of communication, engagement, customer care and professionalism has increased enormously across all departments.
Through our efforts to ensure that our visitors are cared for within a friendly environment by professional kind staff, we have developed a number of initiatives to empower employees to focus on their strengths and their knowledge. Winning the CIE Award of Excellence for the tenth year running, the Irish Independent 2019 Readers Travel Award for Irelands Favourite Visitor Attraction, Irish Tourism Industry Award Winner 2018 and a 79% excellent rating on TripAdvisor is testament to these accomplishments.
We have come to the reality that each staff member has a unique talent and to develop the ‘X’ factor within every one of them is an intricate part of our role. Our focus on lifelong learning and commitment to employee professional development remains key to what we offer to our staff. We have a very generous Educational Assistance Programme that is promoted and highlighted through our Staff Newsletter, Induction Programme, One to One focus meetings with our Director Geraldine Enright and our staff and also staff participation in key developmental projects. We work in partnership with Failte Ireland, Tourism Ireland, The Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark, University of Limerick, Shannon College of Hotel Management, The Burren Ecotourism Network, HSE, Birdwatch Ireland to develop training courses and research that is specific and unique to the Cliffs of Moher and our staff. We are teaching our staff to develop low impact high quality tourism initiatives that visitors can experience the area in a sustainable way through our green team. We show this through our very successful complementary shuttle bus for staff and our commitment to reduce our impact on this special protected area through increased recycling, water efficiency and the use of renewable green initiatives.
One of our most innovative projects yet is the development of a training library documenting our training on video both theory and practice, from Geology with the Burren Cliffs of Moher Geopark to the Failte Ireland Service Excellence Programme. This will form part of our ongoing bespoke training and commitment to building our new hire experience to those who see their long-term future and career path with the Cliffs of Moher. It is also our way of empowering our employee to be proactive to make decisions and to consistently proactively interact with our visitors.
Following this we will begin bringing our wellness strategy to life and promoting our staff health and wellbeing, by more outdoor activities on this unique site.
By our commitment to speaking, listening, involving and thanking, we are committed to our team to grow with us and contribute to a world class visitor experience.
