Banquet Bartender Job Description


The Banquet Beverage Bartender prepares and serves beverages according to the Fairmont’s highest standards & models service excellence by greeting each guest with a warm, sincere welcome. 



The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:


  • Must be able to communicate and read effectively, both verbally and written.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend a Banquet Event Order.  
  • Must possess excellent hospitality skills.  
  • Must be dependable, on time and accountable for his/ her own actions.
  • Must possess exceptional POS operating system skills.
  • Knowledge of beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
  • Ability to transfer from one event space to another including moving equipment in a timely manner.
  • Ability to make quick and accurate decisions.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds at a time including but not limited to lifting boxes, crates, ovals.
  • Self motivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well around a large number of people.
  • Ability to work well with people in a team environment.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paces environment, under short time constraints and within established deadlines.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including extended hours, weekends and holidays.





  • Serve bar beverages to guests in friendly, prompt, and professional manner.
  • Ensures the proper and adequate set-up/ break down according to banquet beverage standards.
  • Complete all job related duties as assigned by the Banquet Beverage Captain on duty.
  • Maintain the highest quality product to the guests.
  • Ensure front and back of the house are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Know the menu/ timeline/ specials/ for each function served.
  • Presents drinks using the standard ingredient recipes.
  • Promotes and maintains the highest level of customer service to all Fairmont guests.
  • Determines when a guest should not be served additional alcoholic beverages in accordance with Arizona State Liquor Board policies. Check Identification according to State, Federal, and corporate liquor laws. 
  • Uses a cash register or point of sale system efficiently as needed.
  • Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to management. Notifies supervisor and/or security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items or alleged thefts.
  • Attends all staff meetings as required by management.




15%                 Set up of the events per the Banquet event order provided during pre- shift.  Stock, cut, and store garnishes properly to ensure quality. Ensure all required product, tools, and equipment are at the workstation. Transport all equipment in a safe and proper manner.


70%                 Service of the guests at during the function with a genuine and hospitable demeanor.  Welcomes and acknowledges each and every guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal greeting.  Use the guest’s name when possible. 


15%                 Break down of the event.  Ensure all equipment and supplies are returned to their proper location in a clean and orderly fashion.  Provide accurate closing inventories for the Banquet Beverage Captain.  After completion of assigned tasks, check out with Supervisor on duty.





















Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Fairmont rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities.  Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.


Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.  In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.


Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.  Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.



In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel:


  • Responsible for the proper handling of all equipment, i.e., glassware, rolling carts, rolling bars, silverware, linen, and props, ensuring proper storage after use.


  • Recommend proper maintenance and repair to the Banquet Management Team.





High school or equivalent education required.



Prior experience in Banquet Services required.


Licenses or Certificates  

Food Handler’s Card, Alcohol Certification



All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per current Fairmont standards.
