Job Description
Assisting in Pastry Preparation
Help with preparing doughs, batters, creams, fillings, and glazes.
Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes.
Baking and Finishing
Support in baking cakes, pastries, breads, and other baked goods.
Learn techniques for decorating and finishing products (e.g., icing, glazing, piping).
Maintaining Cleanliness and Hygiene
Ensure workstations and tools are cleaned and sanitized regularly.
Follow food safety and hygiene protocols.
Learning from Senior Pastry Chefs
Observe and assist senior chefs to learn techniques and kitchen operations.
Take direction and apply feedback for improvement.
Inventory and Stock Management Support
Help with unpacking and storing ingredients and supplies.
Monitor stock levels and report shortages.
Operating Kitchen Equipment
Use basic baking equipment like mixers, ovens, and scales safely under supervision.
Time Management and Organization
Prepare ingredients and items in advance to meet production timelines.
Organize tools and ingredients for efficient workflow.
Team Collaboration
Communicate effectively with the kitchen team.
Assist other team members during busy periods or special events.
Qualifications
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
•Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
•A passion for food and cooking
•Reliable, punctual and have an eye for detail
•Currently studying or enrolled to study with applicable TAFE
•A willingness to learn and take instruction from experienced Chefs
•Ability to work a rotating roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays
