Airbnb is seeking an intern to join the Legal Privacy team for a 2023 Summer internship (full-time).
The Airbnb Legal Privacy team supports the entire Airbnb business, including product development and privacy compliance requirements. Airbnb is a global company and the Legal Privacy team works to protect our hosts’ and guests’ data rights everywhere. We support the Product, Cybersecurity, Policy, Litigation, Research, and Corporate legal teams, among others. We provide guidance on privacy laws globally, including U.S. state and federal privacy laws, the EU’s GDPR, and Brazil’s LGPD, and we collaborate with the Airbnb policy team on proposed privacy legislation.
The ideal candidate must have a proven ability to learn new areas of law and function independently in a demanding fast-paced environment. Working with an in-house specialized privacy team is a rare and valuable opportunity to gain practical experience. Our privacy externship program stands apart in that it offers a sustained period of substantive project work. Past interns have provided a great amount of help to the Legal Privacy team, including researching new bills, laws, and privacy regulatory guidance. For example, our privacy interns supported implementing new state privacy law requirements and were able to interact with global legal counterparts, engineers, and the Privacy operations team while working on cutting edge privacy issues. Past interns have gone on to secure full- or part-time employment with a number of dynamic technology companies, including Airbnb.
As an intern, you’ll be expected:
- Collaborate with multiple team members to achieve project milestones
- Communicate with the legal team and other stakeholders to provide project updates
- Proactively seek and provide feedback throughout the internship
- Actively participate in and contribute to the legal and broader Airbnb community
How We’ll Take Care of You:
- Current first- or second-year student enrolled at a nationally-accredited law school.
- Applicants must (1) have taken at least one privacy class or (2) received CIPP (either US or EU) certification prior to beginning the externship.
- Be willing to roll up your sleeves for tasks big and small.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, intellectual curiosity, sense of humor, team collaboration, and willingness to grow.
Our job titles may span more than one career or degree level. Our hourly intern salary is $46.15 per hour. Your Location:
This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Airbnb, Inc. can employ in states where we have registered entities.
