On the Platform Equity team, we are a group of groundbreaking technologists who work to advance anti discriminatory policies and standards for our Airbnb Community. We are passionate about creating the systems and processes that will enable teams at Airbnb to root out discrepancies throughout our policies and our product that may be correlated with race or other demographic attributes - the result of explicit or implicit discrimination between individuals (e.g., between hosts and guests), as well as broader, systemic inequities - and fix them.

How you’ll make an impact

As the Senior Program Manager for the Platform Equity team in Trust Policy & Programs, you will be a member of a growing area of the business and report directly to the Head of Platform Equity Programs. You will propose, create and manage programs that will champion and promote Anti-Discrimination and Equity initiatives across the Airbnb Platform, executing with the help of cross-functional teams.

You will bring your strategic thinking, operational rigor, and business acumen to enable the team to do their best work as we embed valuable insights to inform business decisions aimed at addressing inequalities in the Airbnb community. 

You will build strong relationships with collaborators of all seniority levels, leveraging your expert communication skills and ability to facilitate consensus, especially on delicate subject matter with individuals. 

You will look for opportunities to create and implement processes, systems and tools that will keep leadership, stakeholders and team members informed of the team’s work, roadmap, challenges and opportunities as the team scales their delivery and services while becoming more efficient. 

Together, we will work towards solving complex, multi-tiered problems in a scalable, sustainable, measurable way with the intention of creating a platform that fosters an equitable, authentic sense of belonging amongst all members of the Airbnb community. 

In this role you’ll get to
  • Help transform the way we build and execute experiences for our community through stellar project delivery and influencing strategic business decisions. 
  • Work closely with team leaders and stakeholders to craft the strategy, narrative, and initiatives that will bring equity work to life on the Airbnb platform. 
  • Design and operationalize program management in Platform Equity by proposing and managing critical Platform Equity initiatives through impact analysis, stakeholder identification, effective communications, planning, consultation, and execution. 
  • Develop and maintain trusted, collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and partner teams through transparent and credible communication. 
  • Create and strengthen communication channels to keep stakeholders and senior leaders informed of program strategy, progress, opportunities and changing priorities at all times.
  • Ensure that cross-functional stakeholders are regularly engaged and inspired; support their understanding of their/others roles and are brought along in the work of Platform Equity. 
  • Work cross-functionally to create and implement robust frameworks, systems, processes and workflows to ensure that strategic insights from the Platform Anti-Discrimination & Equity program are embedded into other teams and their work. 
  • Support the organization through improvements to our internal product, policy, and operations development processes, with a focus on enabling cross-functional teams to more proactively build non-discrimination and equity principles into their work. 
We are looking for people who have
  • The ability to hit the ground running on a growing team, navigate ambiguity and provide structure and clarity quickly in a rapidly changing environment. 
  • Ability to quickly form strong, lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with team members, stakeholders, cross-functional partners, and senior leadership. 
  • Strong experience building new team narratives, operational structure, and best practices. 
  • Strong experience developing, implementing and iterating on robust processes within quickly evolving organizations.
  • Excellent program management skills, managing multiple complex projects simultaneously and with multiple stakeholders. Highly organized and effective against time constraints, ambiguity and a changing landscape. 
  • Demonstrated capacity for strategic, critical thinking and analysis. Able to see the big picture while having a strong attention to detail on the tactical level and translate between the two. 
  • Strong troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills especially with uncharted territory and new concepts. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Have an ability to reconcile differing viewpoints and create a compelling story to influence decisions of business leaders and founders. You can uplevel your communications for senior leaders as well as drill down into details with directly responsible individuals as needed.
  • Working experience with the product development lifecycle within technology, regulations, and/or industry landscape.
Bonus points
  • Background or experience working with civil rights groups, privacy groups, and academics.
  • Academic background in issues of discrimination and bias.
  • Working experience in the diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging space, preferably within the travel and hosting industry.
