Description of the Property:
Along a sandy beach on the North Atlantic Ocean, this refined resort is an oasis of comfort and convenience, 2 miles from The Botanic Gardens, and 6 miles from Harry Harris Beach and Park. Guests can choose from an enclave of 177 luxury rooms, suites, bungalows, and a beach house detailed with high-touch features and amenities. There's also a spa, sports facilities and a private beach area. Dolphin swims and diving are available.

Description of the Location:
Famous for being “The Diving Capital of the World,” Key Largo is home to continental America’s only living coral reef and is known for its eco-friendly tourism. Key Largo, a narrow barrier isle stretching 53 kilometers is the largest and northernmost island in a chain of islands called the Florida Keys. Key Largo is easily accessible from the mainland via two routes: the Card Sound Bridge and U.S. Route 1. The latter of these continues to run down the middle of the island, and is lined by many hotels, restaurants and bars. Once on the island, ecotourists will appreciate Key Largo’s many opportunities for exploring. To the west, you’ll find the Everglades National Park. Here, you can kayak through secluded brackish waters, where the freshwater of the Everglades mixes with the Florida Bay saltwater.

Description of the Training:
Gain invaluable skills and knowledge in the Food and Beverage department and Rooms Division of a world-leading luxury hotel/resort through a J-1 program at Playa Largo Resort and Spa or step into the kitchen and learn from the best chefs in the American hospitality industry. Train in a diverse and multicultural environment, under the guidance and leadership of industry leaders in the guest services field as you rotate through different outlets on the property. This rotational program is designed to give you exposure to the international hospitality industry and give you the experience to excel in your career when you return to your home country.

Description of the Position:
Train in all areas of Culinary/ Food & Beverage and Rooms Division, including, but not limited to: Banquets, Pastry and Outlet kitchens/ Front of House Operations, Banquet Operations, Supervisory Development, Front Desk Reception, Butler Service:
• Learn to ensure high quality and consistency of service as per Hotel’s standards;
• Welcome guests and colleagues in a polite and friendly manner;
• Train with professionals across multiple outlets to perform tasks as needed;
• Ensure compliance of all Hotel's standards;
• Learn to strive to achieve departmental targets;
• Ensure cleanliness of work areas;
• During training, ensure to be in compliance with all Hotel's health and safety policies;
• Perform all other reasonable duties as needed.

Requirements

• Conversational English required;
• Must be a current student of a Hospitality or Tourism / Culinary Arts post-secondary academic institution;
• Or recent graduate (less than 12 months ago) of a Hospitality or Tourism / Culinary Arts post-secondary academic institution;
• Or a graduate of a Hospitality or Tourism / Culinary Arts post-secondary academic institution (more than 12 months ago,) with 12 months of verifiable related work experience;
• Or must have 5 years of verifiable related work experience.

• Positive attitude;
• Good communication skills;
• Commitment to delivering high levels of customer service;
• A polished and professional appearance and compliance with Hotel grooming standards;
• Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations;
• Ability to work calmly while meeting deadlines.
