About the job

The position is accountable for proactively soliciting and handling sales opportunities. Ensures business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for proper service delivery. Assists in leading all day-to-day activities related to sales with a focus on building long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of sales objectives. Achieves personal sales goals.

Main Responsibility

1) SALES ACTIVITIES
• Exceeds personal sales goals on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis
• Understands the overall market - competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and knows how to sell against them.
• Independently responsible for achievement of objectives, as outlined in the action plans
• Determines and recommends prospective customers from market information and resources
• Within established parameters, quotes and negotiates prices, confirming by written contracts
• As directed, participates in tradeshows, conventions and promotional events within the hotel and trade related organizations
• Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings. Activities include sales calls, entertainment, FAM trips, trade shows, etc.
• Develops relationships within community to strengthen and expand customer base for sales opportunities.

2) SALES ADMINISTRATION
• Maintains account, contact, activity and business details within Opera S&C according to Carlton standards
• Upon closing contracts, coordinates and follows up with groups, catering and/or other hotel departments to ensure delivery of hotel’s promised services
• Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, as required
• As directed, assists with the compilation of competitive intelligence information
• Attends all sales, groups and revenue meetings


3) HUMAN RESOURCE SCOPE
• Where applicable, responsible for ongoing mentoring and coaching of support colleague
• Actively participates in prescribed sales training

4) OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Other duties, as assigned

About you

Preferred Knowledge/Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and/or Hotel Management degree/diploma and/or minimum one year as a Sales Representative and/or equivalent industry experience
• Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications and or relevant computer applications required
• Opera Sales & catering knowledge an asset
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
• Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
• Highly responsible & reliable
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
