Transportation to hotel: Airport to hotel: The employer will provide pick up at San Jose airport with at least one week notice. Local Transportation: Information on local bus and rail public transportation can be found at http://www.vta.org/schedules/schedules.html/. A Trip Planner is also available on that website. However, public transportation is very limited in the local areas so candidates are advised to buy a car or moped either individually or shared with other j-1s. We recommend that you bring an additional $1500-3000 to accommodate the costs associated with purchasing a reliable vehicle, vehicle insurance $300-$500/year. Monthly gas and maintenance is usually @$150. Vehicles in the state of California are required to be insured. HOUSING Is provided by the host employer to include: The Director of HR will meet you on your date of arrival to welcome new associates; We willprovide a property tour and have lunch or dinnerbefore taking the studentsto their new residence to make introductions. The residence has 5 bedrooms and is fully furnished. The home is located in a very safe neighborhood 5 miles away from the property. It has a lovely yard that staff can enjoy. The home has everything needed to be comfortable including a fully stocked kitchen and a washer and dryer. The rent is $800.00 rent for single room if available or $400.00 for a shared room. Rent includes most utilities, cable, water, electric and garbage. The J1's do not need to set up anything.Personal items can be shipped to the residence in advance. The address of the residence is 864 Pueblo Drive, Gilroy, Ca 95020. The company will assist with transportation the first month but associates needto arrange transportation by carpooling, Uber or by purchasing a motorcycle or automobile thereafter. Bus service is available within one mile of the property but the schedule is limited. Students must be able to drive because positons on property require the operation of a golf cart. As we have approximately 5 Interns or J-1's during the year and these individualsoften assist each other.We also have a house manager who looks after the students to ensure that they are following the house rules.The Resident Manager is the Executive Housekeeper at CordeValle. Cultural Activities provided by the host employer: We also assist with hostingpotlucks at the home and during the year we invite the students to enjoy many social, lifestyle and team building activities which include golf, tennis , hikes, soccer and basketball, dinner dance and monthly celebrations. We provide one meal per day to all associates. We try to make it fun and we really look after the J1's to ensure they are learning, developing and enjoying their stay with us as well as getting the cultural orientation and experiences. Base Pay $14.00 per hour with Resort Service fees which average around $2.00 per hour more.
Complimentary uniform and a meal per shift is offered. After 30 days, employee accrues paid sick time that can be used only after the 90th day of employment. After 90 days employees begin to accrue paid vacation days. You will be eligible to accrue 5 days of paid vacation in a 12 month period. Please see employer benefits paperwork upon orientation. Employer will provide airport pick up at San Jose airport. Please provide notice to employer at least one week in advance for arrangement.
Must have an inernational drivers license and be able to obtain a US Drivers license. Spanish speaking ability will be a plus but not mandatory
Eligibility criteria for our Career USA programs: - you are enrolled in a post secondary ministerially recognized academic institution in the hospitality industry OR - you have a hospitality degree and at least 1 year of recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry (outside of the USA) OR - you have 5 years recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry (outside the USA) - you have shown consistent career growth over the last years - you have shown serious commitment to your most recent employers
