Job description

As a Principal Architect, you will be a key member of the team whose primary responsibility is to partner with different lines of business within Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media (which includes everything from mobile apps to cloud services to internet of things to licensed products) and help architect and design solutions to technology problems.
This role requires not only a strong understanding of current technology trends, simplicity of design and systems, but most importantly the ability to think outside of the box and find innovative solutions to difficult problems pushing the boundaries between technology and storytelling.
Prototyping skills and thinking outside of the box is required for this roll – as you will be challenged to explore new media experiences.
  • Gather, understand, and prioritize requirements, research potential solutions, rapidly build prototypes, and distill and communicate what was learned, expected risks, necessary resources, potential security concerns.
  • Help build and maintain an understanding of new and emerging tech, including ease of use, maturity, adoption, and how it may be used at Disney Consumer Products Interactive Media.
  • Provide high level technical design, strategy roadmap development, and technical architecture related to projects and/or programs
  • Assist with development of internal tools.
  • Provide strategic input towards technology innovation projects
  • Demonstrate an ability to translate business trends and strategies into technical services and solutions
  • Support strategic technology planning by identifying, tracking, and experimenting with new and potentially disruptive technologies
Basic Qualifications
  • In depth knowledge of one or more of the following languages: Java, Objective-C, Swift, Python
  • Understanding of networks and protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP)
  • Building tools and automation
  • Beneficial experience:
    • Public clouds (Google Cloud Platform)
    • iPhone and/or Android development
    • Embedded systems (such as Arduino, RaspberryPi, BeagleBone Black, etc.
  • Ability to learn new skills and technology rapidly.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of personalities.
  • Curiosity and ability to think outside of the box
  • Proven track record of being results orientated with demonstrated ability to achieve aggressive goals
  • Proven presentation and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated expertise of building a consensus across business partners and technology leaders, and influencing successful outcomes
  • Excellence working in team-oriented roles that rely on the ability to collaborate with others
