Disney Consumer Products & Interactive Media (DCPI) is the business segment of the Walt Disney Company that extends the Disney brand to merchandise ranging from apparel, toys, home décor and books to interactive games, food and beverages, stationery, electronics and animation art.
The Lucasfilm team is responsible for licensing characters and story created by Lucas Film Studio and from Lucas’ catalog of characters. In addition, the team is the liaison with the Walt Disney Company divisions and retailers around the world and is responsible for building marketing programs and franchise initiatives in order to grow product sales and maximize the Lucasfilm portfolio.
The Senior Manager is responsible for managing the Star Wars brand across multiple categories and the team, associated product sub-categories, and licensees with the goal of meeting or exceeding predetermined revenue targets and growth objectives. ResponsibilitiesCategory Management:
  • Research & understand competitive landscape in the Toy & Collector markets. Analyze and understand market trends, consumer and retailer and industry needs.
  • Define category and property strategy / Participate and contribute to the strategic planning process.
  • Accountable for management of all licensees within the assigned portfolio, which includes contract negotiation, resolving issues, reviewing/approving submissions (product, marketing & PR), and guiding promotion/advertising initiatives.
  • Identify growth opportunities by category, franchise and distribution and select, pitch and execute new deals to fill gaps
  • Negotiate financial deal points and other material terms on new deals and renewals with the support from Director
  • Set-up and lead licensee business review as well as internal and external retail presentations and line reviews
  • Responsible to interact with regions when managing global licensees: drive regular communication and information flow, incorporate feedback for product development and contract negotiation
Brand and Content Management:
  • Have an understanding of the Lucas brands and fan base to help manage specific Hardlines product categories within the Lucas brand portfolio
  • Help define and integrate licensees within wider brand and marketing plans
  • Strategically outline and develop licensee’s product information in support of marketing and brand presentations and sales meetings
Finance and Business Planning:
  • Fiscal responsibility for assigned categories to include annual budget planning and quarterly revenue forecasting.
  • Build and present category forecast and budget
  • Participate and contribute to the strategic planning process. Develop strategies and business plans by retailer, brand and property.
  • Finalize/negotiate licensee business plans
  • Strategize, identify and develop new business opportunities. Manage the process from concept to pitch, to licensee on-boarding, contract negotiation and contract signature.
Product Development:
  • Partner with product development to innovate & bring to market compelling new product for categories managed.
  • Oversee product development strategy to ensure licensee product lines reflect Disney and Lucasfilm quality and brand/property objectives
  • Set product strategy and align with Product Development team to ensure timely approval of products which may include: lead meetings; review line lists; respond to product development team in the case of OPA submission changes; execute merchandising plans; public relations and advertising coordination
Retail, Sales and Marketing
  • Support internal initiatives generated by Marketing and Sales Teams.
  • Recommends initiatives, providing cost/benefit analysis and an estimate of return on investment.
  • In conjunction with Franchise partners, communicate new product initiatives and strategies to the internal retail teams
  • Liaise with Sales Trade Marketing team to define account promotional and marketing plans and ensure licensee participation
  • Works closely with licensees, retail and creative teams to ensure product lines are strategically thought out and meet retailer needs by distribution channel while maintaining Lucas quality and character integrity standards.
  • Prepares comprehensive/compelling presentations and present to retail/customers as needed
Management
  • Perform general supervisory functions such as hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, development and operating expense control
  • Responsible for growth and development of Assistant Manager
  • Build solid relationships with other DCP franchise teams and business units to share and exchange best practices

Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree + 7-10 yrs. of directly related experience or Masters + 3-5 yrs. experience.
  • Experience in the Toy and Collectibles markets
  • Experience in financial/market analysis and research, retail management, brand/product development and consumer products marketing
  • At least 3 yrs. experience at the category mgr. level within Disney or 4 yrs. combined mgmt. experience (internal/external).
