Job description

The Motion Graphics Designer position is responsible for creating high-quality, complex graphics, animation and live video content for Disney Publishing and Digital Media. This content includes motion shareables, illustrations, animations, animatics for publishing marketing, corporate partner sponsorships, blogs and social sites. Projects can include title and post-production work, as well as multimedia campaigns, promotional products, graphics packages, technical illustrations and computer artwork for use in a variety of materials.
This position requires an experienced, communicative, and self-motivated designer to craft comprehensive visual solutions to meet the needs of the brands represented and the audience. They must be able to collaborate with the team at every stage in the creative process, from conceptualization to storyboard, execution and editing. Responsibilities involve creating animated 2D and 3D images for marketing and sponsored experiences.
The role calls for a versatile and imaginative designer to provide creative solutions to extend and interpret a properties’ story. It requires an expertise of numerous design styles and experience with major brands and properties. Must be able to concept and communicate ideas via visualization and then execute the approved design. The individual must understand Disney and related brands, interactive entertainment, and possess an ability to implement and deliver consistent, high-quality product for all assigned tasks. The designer should be able to interpret product goals, as well as be able to collaborate and communicate these goals in a high-intensity workplace. Responsibilities
  • Concept, develop and execute visually stunning designs, animations and illustrations for marketing, sponsored content as well as current and emerging social platforms
  • Interpret Sponsor and Brand business needs to create visual solutions and deliveries
  • Provide hands-on design, animation, illustration and typographic skills – with the ability to develop and deliver a number of visual styles
  • Work with other content groups (photography, video and editorial) to produce content
  • Interpret product goals in order to meet objectives; collaborate and communicate these goals in a high-intensity workplace
  • Work closely with the Manager, Visual Development to execute motion content that meet the expectations of the Disney brand
  • Prepare design plan, concept and layout for motion graphics project.
  • Design and create enticing motion graphics for video deliverables across varying platforms.
  • Assist in selecting audio, video, colors, animation, etc. for graphic design.
  • Edit raw video footage and add effects/elements to enhance motion graphics.
  • Research and analyze best design techniques and solutions to create motion graphics.
  • Assist in designing and creating storyboards.
  • Participate in brainstorming session to share new design perspectives and ideas.
  • Maintain and follow best practices for versioning control, naming convention and organization of graphic files.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge about latest graphic design techniques.
  • Consult creative team on their projects to develop their motion graphics knowledge.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience in related industry
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe After Effects and Photoshop.
  • Experienced user of Cinema 4D and Maya is a plus
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere.
  • Knowledge of 2D and 3D workflows.
  • Applied skills in graphic design, typography a plus
  • Can perform basic color correction, sound mixing and other finishing techniques.
  • Good sense of composition, musical timing and pacing is required.
  • Can follow directions fully without the need for constant supervision.
  • Quick learner with a desire to improve and an ability to take constructive criticism.
  • Proven skills in creativity, problem-solving, follow-through, attention to detail, and priority setting.
  • Strong traditional and digital design and compositional skills
  • Possess a strong affinity for and understanding of the Walt Disney Company brands as well as Social, Illustration, Design and Marketing trends
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced collaborative environment working on multiple competing priorities
  • Strong communicator with visual, verbal, pitch and writing skills
  • Must be adaptable to changing technology and restrictions, design challenges, deadlines, and project requirements.
  • Ability to work with product leads to create concepts and executions for projects
