Job description

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Merchandiser to join the Disney Stores Head Office on a permanent basis. You will assist the Merchandiser in planning, controlling and monitoring the purchase, intake and ranging of merchandise, in order to maximise sales and MMU (Maintained Mark-up) in the assigned departments.

About the position:
Planning
  • Assist the Merchandiser in developing a departmental strategy in conjunction with the Global Strategy Team which delivers balanced,well constructed ranges (franchise, price, product, seasonality, market) offering real choice to the guests in line with overall business strategy.
  • Plan forward seasons using the WSSI and range planning tools, taking into account promotional planning, space available/cube and franchise focus.
  • Understand the supply chain involvedon the department and the stages on the critical path from source, through the EDC, to sale, working at all times to ensure the most efficient, cost effective flow and movement of stock.
  • When fully trained and with guidance from your Merchandiser, be responsible for planning and trading an area of the department.
  • Ensure staging pack, matrix, range plan and layouts tie for each quarter start
  • Manage franchise set with buying team and VM
  • Manage all elements of the hit planner, inc APP planning, in conjunction with the Merchandiser
  • Work with the AB / Buyer to plan Vendor strategy,maximising
  • flexibility and MMU
  • Plan promotional strategy including sales and stocks and liaise with the distribution team about the allocation plan
Trading
  • Assist the Merchandiser using the WSSI/OTB process to forecast and trade the department forward and achieve the planned sales, markdown, margin and stock targets
  • Review flows weekly, and identify sales, stock and margin risks and opportunities to Merchandiser where performance is differentto plan.
  • Maintain and manage the delivery schedule
  • Ensure all promotional activity is set up accurately on the system and goes live at the correct time in all markets, including Online. Action timely and effective communication to all stakeholders, including the distribution team.
  • Action accurate and timely communications to stores through regular and effective communication with Retail Ops and VizMiz.
  • Ensure the teamare aware of POS limitations in different markets regarding messages, price establishment and cost price and this is reflected in promotional events.
  • Have a clear understanding of how the allocation system works.
  • Make sure all range plans and line details are accurate and up to date for thedistribution Team to use.
  • As appropriate visit stores and the EDC with Merchandiser/other team members to understand Operational issues.
  • Proactively instigate ad hoc analysis as required, interpret results and recommend actions, in addition to ensuring regular reporting is accurate and consistent.
  • Awareness of current business priorities, building changes into department plans
  • Maintain accuracy of franchisesets / range plans and keep relevant people up to date of changes
Manage Self and Teamwork
  • Supervise and be responsible for the training and development of MAs ensuring regular objectives are set and reviewed andfeedback given.
  • Responsible for driving professional excellence through discussions with Line Manager and using opportunities for training and personal development
  • Actively seek ways to raise profile through project involvement or process development.
  • Demonstrate and awareness of others, offer support, share knowledge and be a team player

Experience required for the role:
  • Essential is proven experience at Assistant Merchandiser level within an omni-channel retail environment
  • Experience working as Allocator, Distributor or Merchandising system within anomni-channel

  • Proven experience of collaboration across departments to achieve department targets
