Front-End Engineering
As a Software Engineer I focused on front-end engineering at ESPN, you will help build and maintain web applications that serve sports fans across the globe. You will work with modern server-side and web technologies such as JavaScript, React, Node, HTML5, and CSS3 to deliver scalable, elegant solutions for new features and core site architecture.

Mobile Engineering
The ESPN Mobile Engineering team develops some of the most downloaded and successful Android sports apps, including the ESPN app, WatchESPN, Tournament Challenge, and many others.
In this role, you will work with a cross-functional team of Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, Web Developers, and Content Creators to conceptualize and develop world-class ESPN apps. Based on your experience, you will apply technical expertise to manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables and will be responsible to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

Data Platforms
We are looking for a creative and talented developer who loves java and big data to help us integrate both structured and unstructured data throughout our new cloud-based data platform. Specifically, we are looking for a software engineer who will join our team to focus on data movement and integration by building data pipelines, using integration technologies and methods (ETL/ELT), and writing software to collect data from endpoints such as RESTful APIs and serve data to virtualization layers.
The internet-scale platforms that you build will be core assets in the delivering the highest quality sports content to over 100M fans monthly. This is an opportunity to fundamentally evolve how ESPN delivers content and monetizes our audiences.

Creative Development
The Software Engineer I – VFX position is entry level position focused on aiding in the development of prototypes, concepts and new products within the Creative Development Group. General knowledge across all VFX subjects including real-time rendering, script writing/code and creative development is preferred. This candidate must have a basic knowledge of system requirements, production implementation and impact on workflows. The focus of this role under the direction of the VFX leadership, is creating prototypes for internal tools, systems and fan-facing products using innovative technology. The ideal candidate will also help foster customer relationships, advance revenue opportunities and increase the team’s opportunities to support growing demands.

Front-End Engineering
  • Up to 1+ years of development experience
  • Demonstrated ability to learn relevant technologies
  • Experience with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JavaScript frameworks, and OOP concepts
  • Understanding of server-side templating
  • A sound understanding of HTTP and REST-style web services
  • Experience with multi-tier web architectures
  • Must demonstrate solid organization/communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, team-oriented and iterative programming environment with a disposition for keeping up with latest technologies.
Mobile Engineering
  • Up to 1+ years of hands-on professional development experience with Android or iOS
  • Experience working a significant consumer app that is currently available in marketplace
  • Experience with Java (Android); Objective-C and/or Swift (iOS)
  • Solid understanding of data models and data access architecture and optimization
  • Strong understanding of multi-tier web architectures, and OO design patterns and concepts
  • Strong understanding of server side software, scalability, performance, and reliability
Data Platforms
  • Up to 1+ years of related experience or it's equivalent
  • Experience with Java and SQL
  • Enjoys new and meaningful technology or business challenges which require you to think and respond quickly
  • Passionate about data, technology, & creative innovation
  • Enjoys working collaboratively with a talented group of people to tackle challenging business problems so we all succeed (or fail fast) as a team
Creative Development
  • Up to 1+ years related experience
  • Studies/skills in 3D VFX graphic systems
  • Experience with VBScript, Access, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/After Effects
  • General understanding of Windows-based systems and TCP/IP networking is desirable
  • Knowledge of broadcast graphic software/hardware and/or graphic design/animation is a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Technology, Engineering, Production and Creative Services
  • Must demonstrate solid organizational, communication, and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong presentation, organization and writing skills
  • Ability to travel globally on short notice and work weekends, nights and holidays as required
  • Must possess a passion for sports!
