Summary of Responsibilities: Reporting to the Executive Pastry Chef, essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow Colleagues
  • Oversees daily Pastry operation and sets direction for the team in conjunction with the Executive Pastry Chef
  • Ensuring proper inventory control and ordering practices are utilized
  • Sets and oversees the goals as identified through employee engagement surveys in conjunction with the Executive Pastry Chef
  • Leading initiatives to guarantee Guest Satisfaction Scores are achieved
  • Training and development of culinary team members with emphasis on team leads, food presentation and preparation methods
  • In conjunction with other leaders, the Senior Pastry Chef will ensure the kitchen is maintained in optimum condition
  • Strives to advance knowledge, skills and abilities and consistently shares same with others
  • Instrumental in running a department that meets Health & Safety committee objectives
  • Will support and provide direction for the menu development and implementation with consideration to the overall concepts, food trends, Guest Satisfaction results & food cost
  • Lead and supervise the quality/quantity of the Pastry department, as well as coordinate the production as it relates to banquet and restaurant functions
  • Conduct daily shift briefings to Colleagues in absence of Executive Pastry Chef
  • Maintaining payroll costs and productivity within budgeted guidelines
  • Balance operational, administrative and Colleague needs
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment
  • Follow kitchen policies, procedures and service standards
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Extensive leadership experience in a Pastry department required
  • Diploma Certification in a Culinary discipline required
  • Working knowledge of sugar work/chocolate skills an asset
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
