Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Talent & Culture, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service
  •  Maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all aspects of job performance in accordance with our Code of Ethics and Human Resources Policies, Procedures and Standards
  • Manage and administer Fairmont Pacific Rim’s comprehensive benefits and pension plan (EFAP, MSP, extended health & dental, life and AD&D insurance, pension, STD/LTD). 
  • Educate colleagues and answer inquiries regarding the group benefit plans
  • Prepare month end reports and reconciliation pertaining to group benefits
  • Manage the Occupational Health & Safety program while maintaining the Hotel’s Certificate of Recognition (COR) with Worksafe BC through annual COR audits and recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop annual strategic initiatives with department leaders to prevent workplace injuries.

  • Develop annual strategic initiatives with department leaders to prevent workplace injuries.
  • Provide guidance to all areas of the hotel with respect to workplace injury procedures, WCB claims management and reporting
  • Adhere to and promote all company Health & Safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment
  • Co-chair of the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee, ensuring incident trends and information is openly discussed and recommendations are made to improve safety. 
  • Lead the Hotel wide Leave Management Program including facilitating the Stay-at-Work & Return-to-Work programs.
  • Manage all Leave of Absences including personal, medical, maternity and parental
  • Coach, train and update leaders & colleagues in workplace safety, injury management, disability management & GRTW/Stay at Work programs
  • Conduct visual audits of departments and ensures subsequent follow up with colleagues regarding improvements and reinforcement of good work practices.  Follow up with leaders to ensure compliance with all Worksafe BC regulations.
  • Assist in managing the WHMIS system to ensure compliance with regulations regarding safe storage and handling and record keeping of all chemicals in use on property as well as annual refresher training
  • Organize and implement workplace health and safety orientation for new colleagues
  • Organize various wellness initiatives including the Annual Health & Wellness Fair, Bike-to-Work Week, Corporate Sun Run Team, and various external wellness community activities
  • Coach and train leaders on managing the Attendance Support Program.
  • Answer inquiries from colleagues and from prospective employees, in person and over the telephone in relation to Talent & Culture policies & procedures.
  • Assist in the administration and organization of colleague activities and events.
  • Assist in maintaining a confidential organized filing system for employee files, correspondence, policies, standards, and regulations
  • Assist with the submission of the biweekly payroll
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Proven experience in Human Resources; minimum 1 year experience in Benefits, Disability Management, Worksafe BC
  • Human Resources or related degree/certificate completed
  • Certified internal COR auditor is an asset
  • Experience in Claims Management and certification is an asset
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Must be able to remain focused and calm and helpful in a busy, fast-paced office environment
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, very detailed orientated and a proven ability to meet deadlines, be accountable and help others be accountable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for service, team building and helping others be successful
  • Demonstrated abilities in Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint
