Assistant Executive Housekeeper

Supporting the Director of Housekeeping to control efficiently and effectively operation of the Housekeeping department. Ensuring at all times the cleanliness and comfort of all guests and associate areas, including furniture, furnishings, linens and uniforms.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Housekeeping, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:             
  • Ensure the highest level of cleanliness throughout the hotel with particular emphasis on guest rooms and public areas
  • Recruit and train Housekeeping associates in accordance with hotel guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain standards training and operating procedures for the department.
  • Maintains appropriate standards for hygiene, uniforms, appearance, posture and conduct of Housekeeping personnel
  • Control the inventory and usage of all cleaning supplies and evaluate pricing and service regularly
  • Prepare weekly/monthly labor schedules to ensure adequate staffing while making efficient use of labor resources
  • Inspect all public and back of house areas on a daily basis to ensure the cleanliness and hygiene standard are kept to the high standard at all time.
  • Implements and controls Housekeeping procedures that provide for the health and safety of personnel and guests, such as lost and found service, key control, security and emergency procedures and environmental procedures.
  • Is prepared to implement assigned tasks during emergencies such as fires, power failures and bomb threats
  • Regularly inspect Suite/Villa to ensure Housekeeping standards are being maintained and provide additional training where discrepancies are found
  • Assist Director of Housekeeping on preparing annual recommendations for the housekeeping budget and capital improvements each year to ensure standards of all furniture, fittings and linens are maintained
  • Assist Director of Housekeeping to review forecast based on actual need on monthly basis or whenever it is necessary to do so
  • Review the performance of Housekeeping associates regularly and in accordance with hotel policy
  • Conduct physical inventories of all uniforms, linens and supplies in accordance with hotel policy
  • Prepare requisitions for approval to ensure par stock levels are maintained for all items
  • Maintain and update the records of lost & found in the Housekeeping department and organize distribution of unclaimed items
  • Co-ordinate with other departments concerned in handling guest requests, enquiries and complaints regarding comforts and services
  • Performs other duties assigned by superior


  • Previous 3 years leadership experience required
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications required
  • University/College degree in a related discipline an asset
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
