Hotel Overview: Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth located downtown Montreal with its contemporary décor offering 950 rooms, including three luxurious Fairmont Gold Floors, a refined bar, restaurant and gourmet market, a modern Wellness Centre, close to 85 000 p2 of meeting space.

 

Summary of Responsibilities: The Regional Director of Sales & Marketing has overall responsibility for maximization of revenues in their own property and region. Oversight and coordination of all aspects of sales and marketing to proactively maximize efficiency and effectiveness. Share best practices and capitalize on synergies where they exist. Foster communications and teamwork between Regional Office and throughout the region to maximize results. Ensure consistent implementation of all policies/procedures and brand standards/dimensions. 

 

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:     

  • Lead Strategic Planning process in their hotel and assist in coordination of the region
  • Identify marketing synergies within the destination/region
  • Knowledgeable of marketing opportunities within all Distribution Channels and all revenue streams
  • Ongoing market research and trend analysis
  • Assist Directors of Sales & Marketing in exceeding budgeted revenue expectations through analysis and assistance in plan formulation
  • Knowledge of the competitive set and competitive positioning
  • Monthly STR report analysis and feedback to properties on improvement
  • Opportunities Focus sales and marketing effort on all revenue streams including rooms, food/beverage, spas, golf, catering (all minor operating departments)
  • Review and assist in presentation and formulation of hotel’s business plans
  • Review and coordination of hotels in competitive pricing on an ongoing basis
  • Involvement with hotel and key accounts as required
  • Ensure property focus on hotel account development
  • Ongoing review and development of strategies by distribution channel to maximize results.
  • Consolidation and communication of property needs within Regional Directors of Sales & Marketing and Corporate Marketing team to ensure a coordinated/branded approach to database communications
  • Coordination of advertising/collateral/partnerships
  • Ensure compliance to Brand Positioning/Brand Standards
  • Management of the local advertising agency relationships and media plans
  • Assess need and develop in consultation with the properties region specific and corporate marketing campaigns
  • Ensure that all FHR marketing promotions and packaging opportunities are being utilized
  • Identify, target, recruit the best sales talent on an ongoing basis
  • Lead, teach, coach and inspire sales teams
  • Development/mentoring of the regional sales and marketing talent
  • Involvement with sales development/training plans
  • Ensure excellent regional communication amongst sales force
  • Encourage excellent communication at the management level
  • Development/coordination of retention/succession (HiPo list)
  • Coordination of sales training (Corporate, Regional, Property)
  • Review and follow up on skills assessments
  • Sales Rewards and Recognition
  • Ensure teams have appropriate tools and resources
  • Ensure adherence to property level quota setting guidelines
  • Approval of property sales quotas
  • Review and approval of regional quotas
  • Monitor performance on a monthly basis
  • Verification and approval of quarterly results/payouts
  • Motivate and encourage performance
  • Monthly review of sales results, segmentation, booking pace, sales team performance, sales activities
  • Review of monthly forecast
  • Sales action plans, assistance in formulation and quarterly review of SMART action plans for all market segments/revenue streams at each hotel and as a region
  • Coordination and approval of attendance at tradeshows/sales travel
  • Provide guidance for preparation of the sales month end reports
  • Total account management to maximize penetration and grow share
  • Streamline communications to Directors of Sales & Marketing to assist in prioritization of workload
  • Guidance/feedback/mentor Directors of Sales & Marketing
  • Create the link between Corporate and field to ensure all available resources utilized
  • Maintain relationship with Owners as required
  • Ensure regular communications with Regional Vice Presidents, General Managers, Executive Director, Sales
  • Attend General Manager meetings where appropriate
  • Maintain regular communications with Directors of Sales & Marketing and sales teams
  • Share best practices and create synergies to more effectively exceed targets
  • Foster communications between Revenue Management, Marketing, Public Relations
  • Attend appropriate client events as required/ build strong client relations
  • Active role in the local/regional/state (provincial) /global sales and marketing
  • Ad hoc property visits where required; Quarterly sales reviews
  • Review A & P Expenses, top line monthly, detail as required
  • Director of Sales & Marketing Meetings Quarterly
  • Monthly Director of Sales & Marketing Conference Calls
  • Annual sales rallies by Region as required
  • Regional Director of Sales & Marketing Steering Committee/conference calls, as required
 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as Director of Sales
  • Previous leadership experience in a luxury hotel environment is required
  • Experience in a Forbes 5-star standards environment
  • Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma in Hospitality Management or related university equivalent
  • Proven record to work towards achieving targeted GOP, CES & Guest satisfaction scores
  • Demonstrated knowledge of budget planning and financial controls required
  • Analytical skills, strength as a developer and a leader of others, creativity, and strong planning skills are essential for this position
  • Clearly demonstrated ability to be innovative, creative and able to think outside the box
  • Ability to build strong relationships, interact and influence others at all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and guest handling skills
  • Self-confident, proactive and able to prioritize and make effective decisions
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
