The Golden Triangle neighborhood, Kuala Lumpur’s thriving business and financial district, will soon see the opening of the new Four Seasons Hotel and Residences. Director of Engineering
The Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur is looking for a Director of Engineering. Candidates with passion for excellence, expertise in hospitality operations and proven leadership experience are invited to apply for a career with Four Seasons.
The Director of Engineering forms part of the Hotel Leadership team who collectively make key strategic and operational decisions for the Hotel or Resort. The Director oversees a team of Engineering and Maintenance specialists responsible for all engineering operations for interior/exterior facilities including plumbing, refrigeration, heating/cooling, painting, carpentry, structural, recycling, electrical, ground care and parking areas. The Director is also responsible for Life/Fire safety systems, energy/green initiative systems and management of other engineering work necessary to maintain the property in an efficient condition to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and employees.
Responsible of establishing and maintaining department operating budgets for submission to management covering costs of heat, light, power, maintenance and repairs. Prepare requisitions for purchase and work orders and liaise effectively with the Director of Purchasing. Maintain logs on movement of stock items and tools and monitor distribution of items.
Responsible to plan and implement procedures, systems, and controls to ensure an efficient maintenance department. Ensure that meter readings are taken daily on heat, light and review information to evaluate consumption.
The ability to establish good working relationships with contractors who will furnish reliable 24 hour emergency service. Ensure proper execution of work order/request system and that items are followed up on when necessary. Implement preventive maintenance schedules, policies and rules to ensure an efficient department.
Oversees the hiring, training, supervision, scheduling, counseling, and evaluation of performance and planning the activities of maintenance staff including making spot checks on a daily basis.
This role has direct contact with guests and as such good communication skills are a necessity. This position does require an applicant with a flexible schedule, able to work morning/afternoon/night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
We are looking for individuals who have solid project management skills, evidence a strong work/ethic, adaptability and flexibility and leadership skills.
Applicants are required to have five years previous management experience in hotel or building engineering maintenance. Qualifications are required either a Professional degree in an Engineering discipline, trade degree in a specific technical field relating to Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Civil Engineering) or CEOE – Certified Engineering Operations Executive from the Hotel and motel Hospitality Association, Building Owners Management Institution (BOMI) designation, Real Property Administrator (RPA), Facility Management Administrator (FMA) or Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA)
Some travel is required for training, conferences and special events.
