About the job

The Buyer will assist the Procurement Manager with the assigned categories within the established guidelines.

Key Activities:

Vendor Management:

  • Manage relationships and negotiates pricing and terms, with vendors, in assigned commodities, as determined by Procurement Manager/Director
  • Receive vendor proposals and provide recommendations to support business plans and initiatives, as applicable
  • Monitor vendors, as assigned, adherence to Four Seasons quality standards, quantity, price and delivery specifications, contractual obligations and acts to remedy discrepancies
  • Monitor vendor catalogue accuracy in Birchstreet System, assist with responses to FS Property procurement enquiries pertaining to product and Birchstreet

Supplier Follow Up:

  • Prepare Requests for Information/Proposals/Quotes as directed.
  • Support categories with all supplier follow-up (pricing, deliveries, etc.)
  • Assist with preparation (acquisition of samples) and presentation of product for review.
  • Receive vendor quotes and provide recommendations to support business plans, as applicable

Category Management:

  • Prepare and action Category Management documentation for assigned categories.
  • Identify and investigate alternate sources of supply and prepare proposals for approval, as determined by Procurement Manager/Director/VP, Sourcing & Procurement.

Reporting:

  • Prepare cost comparisons and provide recommendations
  • Ensure on time submissions of vendor open order reporting and conduct detailed review to assess potential risks; update Delivery Status Report.
  • Support Procurement Managers with the development of project budgets, and maintenance of templates.
  • Assist with Corporate Standards Usage reporting needs as required.
  • Maintain accurate master database files for categories, vendors and properties
  • Manage cost savings tracking and assist with preparing annual cost savings analysis report

Purchase Orders:

  • Other duties as assigned and special projects.
  • Attend calls (irregular hours) as needed to support various regions and/or projects.
  • Support Procurement Managers with the development of project budgets, and maintenance of templates.
  • Assist with responses to Four Seasons Property procurement enquiries pertaining to product and Birchstreet

Key Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) designation or working towards, an asset
  • Degree or diploma in business or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years procurement and supply chain experience required ​
  • Ability to travel approximately 5% to international locations
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office software, in particular Word and Excel
  • Lotus Notes and centralized purchasing system (i.e. Birch Street, SAP etc.) experience would be an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret designer specifications would be an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be able to write clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet various shifting deadlines in a very fast-paced environment
  • Analytical, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Flexible and dependable
