We're about to make a splash and we want you on board! This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic pre-opening team with the Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Fort Lauderdale.

The Restaurant Sous Chef partners with and reports to the Restaurant Chef to lead the culinary team and provide dynamic leadership support for the Kitchen, ensuring thorough people development together with long-term growth and profitability of the department, division, and Hotel.  

The primary responsibilities for this position are to ensure superior quality and consistency in preparation of all food items through the effective management of our employees in the Kitchen Department; providing elevated three meal period service for guests, residents, and patrons in what will be our signature restaurant; inspired by flavors from the Eastern Mediterranean and Levant region. This premier oceanside dining experience will feature woodfired vegetables, aged meats, and fresh fish which will be complimented by a light fruit-forward cocktail program. The Restaurant Sous Chef will help consistently create these healthful, authentic, yet indulgent culinary experiences where the flavors and colors of the food match the brightness of the destination.   

The new Fort Lauderdale property is part of a shared services collection that has common ownership and encompasses the Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach, Four Seasons Hotel & Residences at The Surf Club, and the Four Seasons Hotel Miami. While this position is not a shared services role, the ability to embrace and collaborate, while aligning efficiencies with all four hotels is essential.  

Essential for this role is leadership experience within the Culinary Arts; preferably experience in Eastern Mediterranean and Levant.

This hotel will have a residential component. Prior experience in a mixed-use residential hotel is beneficial, though not required. 

In addition, the following knowledge, skills and abilities are required: 

  • Passionate people developer who coordinates the selection, training, development, coaching and evaluation of employees.  

  • Sets and maintains high standards by assisting in the planning and development of menus for the hotel and ensuring the correct preparation and presentation of a consistent level for all food items prepared through production and demonstration.    



  • Excellent communicator who works harmoniously with employees and managers to ensure operational needs are met as well as attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation amongst departments to ensure a positive environment.  

  • Resolves guest complaints, handling all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism, accommodating special requests whenever possible.   

  • Supporting culinary leadership team in controlling labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, menu development and recipe costing (Birchstreet) purchasing decisions, and inventory control.  

  • Ensures that sanitation standards as set forth by Four Seasons, local, state, and federal regulations comply as well as the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen.  

  • Maintains control systems which will assure quality and portion consistency, monitor food shipments to ensure they meet established purchasing specifications as well and foster an awareness of the importance of food preparation and quality 



  • Takes action in all matters related to the safety, security, satisfaction and wellbeing of hotel guests and employees. Responds swiftly and effectively in any hotel emergency or safety situation.  

  • Dynamic and highly visible in the operation, recognizing and maintaining relationships with regular guests as well as cultivating relationships with new patrons through effective marketing and personal relationships. 

  • Complies with Four Seasons’ Category One and Category Two Work Rules and Standards of Conduct as set forth in EmPact. 

  • Strong EQ – relationship management is key for all stakeholders (internal, external, ownership and Four Seasons brand). 

  • The ability to react and adjust to changing business environments and lead the team in ensuring efficient financial management of the business. 



  • A creative and inventive leader who operates in a space where there is no box. 

  • College degree specializing in culinary arts, or equivalent experience is required. 

  • Two to three years previous experience in multiple culinary/food & beverage leadership roles. 

  • This position reports to the Restaurant Chef and is an Assistant Department Head (Assistant Manager) role. 



VISA REQUIREMENTS 

Authorization to work in the United States is required, unless the candidate is currently in a managerial role with another Four Seasons location. Current Four Seasons managers may qualify for an L-1 visa sponsorship.
