Sous Chef is responsible for supervising staff and ensuring high levels of food preparation in the kitchen to deliver an excellent experience while controlling food costs, waste, team management, managing inventory and other related tasks.

From Wagyu to T-bone, our Eastwood Beer & Grill restaurant is known to offer the best quality steaks. Likewise, our other dishes show the highest quality and creativity. Besides our Eastwood Beer & Grill restaurant, you will also be responsible for the dishes in SkyLounge Amsterdam. Here, your organisational skills are tested and you can show whether you are able to perform in a busy and dynamic environment. From homemade sushi to ice cream, we have it all!

You will be responsible for the kitchen during a shift. Either working with other Sous Chefs or under the supervision of the Head Chef. You will also be required to control food costs and inventory management. You are responsible for ensuring all food preparations meet high quality standards as well as supervising your team and keeping all working areas clean and tidy, ensuring no cross contamination takes place.

You will prepare and supervise the mise en place for all relevant menus and are able to create new dishes for the menus from our different outlets. As we are one big team within the hotel, it is important that you are able to maintain good working relationships and assist other departments wherever necessary. In addition, you assist the Head Chef and fellow Sous Chefs in the training of all staff, in compliance with procedures. Similarly, we expect you to report and control maintenance, hygiene and hazard issues

As a Sous Chef you will be passionate about quality, fresh ingredients, product source and innovating to deliver outstanding dishes. You will work closely with the Head Chef and other Sous Chefs. You will have the opportunity to showcase your talents for cooking whilst continuing to drive and develop your management and leadership skills.

A Sous Chef serving DoubleTree by Hilton’s brand standards is always working on behalf of our guests. To successfully fill this role, it is important that you have the following skills:

  • A minimum of 2 years of previous experience as a (Junior) Sous Chef or strong experience as an all-round Chef de Partie
  • A current, valid, and relevant trade commercial cookery qualification (proof may be required)
  • Excellent knowledge of food
  • Coaching and problem solving skills
  • Ability and desire to motivate a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • NVQ Level 4
  • Achieved Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Positive, proactive and assertive attitude
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work on your own and in a team
  • Excellent English speaking skills

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • Knowledge of current food trends
  • Intermediate Food Hygiene
  • SVH Mentor certificate
