Job description

Reporting to the Vice President, Public Affairs, the incumbent will head the Publicity and Trade communications teams to drive strategic communication through publicity campaigns, stakeholder engagement, as well as related PR events planning and executions across all target markets for building brand and product awareness. He/she will steer the articulation of Hong Kong Disneyland’s (HKDL’s) brand and product stories to through an integrated media approach leveraging both traditional and new media. Internally, the Publicity Director will lead the team to partner with the relevant revenue driving Line of Businesses (LOBs) such as Marketing, Sales, F&B, Merchandise, etc. to provide integrated communication solutions to serve HKDL business needs. He/she will also work closely with other functions within the Public Affairs department to manage reputation for HKDL and maximize the impact of publicity campaigns. Responsibilities
  • Lead the team and manage PR/event agencies in devising and executing the right PR strategies and plans for Hong Kong, international, and China markets; drive publicity and awareness in the right timing for key business projects; generate timely and positive words of mouth from online and offline media via mass and trade communications; strategize, lead and manage PR events
  • Partner with all Public Affairs and Communications functions to translate HKDL’s differentiation positioning strategy into communication messaging and execution via stakeholders touch points
  • Constantly review the fast changing PR scene in Hong Kong, China and International markets to define market and resource priority according to HKDL’s business needs; manage budget and plan resources for the PR and trade PR teams
  • Support Vice President, Public Affairs for the development and implementation of PR messaging and strategies for company’s milestones projects, including expansions, transportation strategies and reputation management
  • Facing the constant changing media scene in Hong Kong, maintain HKDL’s positive relationship especially with feature, lifestyle, entertainment media and also key opinion leaders / bloggers; leverage on media opportunities to enhance HKDL’s image.
Basic Qualifications
  • University degree holder, preferably major in Communications, Journalism, or Translation
  • At least 12 years solid experience in PR/Event management, with 8 years in managerial role. China or regional exposure is a plus
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of PR and consumer marketing, able to bridge both to develop appropriate strategies and plans for brand differentiation/ positioning
  • Ability to grasp resort-wide LOBs business dynamics, digest consumer insights of HKDL target markets and translate into relevant PR strategies and plans
  • Well-connected with media and PR scene; a fast adopter of social media tools and trends
  • Strong ability to think strategically and provide creative solutions
  • Excellent leadership, communication and project management skills to lead the team to work with a vast number of internal and external partners
  • Excellent command in English, Cantonese and Mandarin
