Position Summary: This position performs administrative and supervisory duties in directing the overall maintenance of the hotel.


Essential functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Inspects and monitors the building, equipment and grounds to determine maintenance and preventative maintenance requirements.
  • Develops work procedures and assigns staff to ensure the best service and productivity.
  • Prepares and submits cost estimates and repair options including, suggestions as to feasibility, logical solution and actual needs of a departmental maintenance request.
  • Contacts contractors or craftsmen for bid proposals.
  • Contacts vendors, suppliers and equipment technical support departments to ensure best prices, quality and warranties for purchases made.
  • Ensure the preventative maintenance is ongoing to protect assets and addressed maintenance problems immediately.
  • Keeps records of work accomplished, operating statistics, costs, utilities and preventative maintenance.
  • Responds to elevator breakdowns.
  • Directs all emergency programs including equipment maintenance, inspections, staff training, practice drills and compliance with all codes and regulations.
  • Ensures periodic tests are performed on Fire Alarm/Life Safety System.
  • Ensures staff is trained in emergency procedures.
  • Responds and resolve engineering service requests in courteous, efficient manner.
  • Maintains engineering work area in an orderly and clean fashion
  • Responds to guest requests and reports guest issues.
  • Establishes standards and procedures for engineering staff.
  • Manages, controls and operate within budget for maximum performance.
  • Properly schedules staff to provide coverage and adjust accordingly.
  • Manages the payroll for the department.
  • Follows proper lost and found procedures for items left behind in a guest room.
  • Follows hotel uniform and grooming standards.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by management.


    Education: High school education/GED. 2 years applicable training at a vocational trade school.

    Experience: At least 2 years previous experience.

    Skills and abilities: This position requires advanced maintenance skills and aptitude plus advanced skills in all aspects of running an engineering department. Must have knowledge of general building maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, building and electrical units and HVAC.

    Hours required: Scheduled days and time vary based on hotel needs. Must be able to work weekends.

    Ability to communicate with guests.

    Ability to stand for long periods of time.

    Ability to provide friendly guest service with a smile.

    Ability to lift, pull and push moderate weight (minimum of 50 lbs)
