Description of the Property:
Indianapolis Marriott Downtown is a high-rise hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was completed in 2001 and has 19 floors. It was the largest hotel in Indiana, until surpassed by the JW Marriott Indianapolis in 2011. The Indianapolis Marriott Downtown features 650 guest rooms and 40,000 square feet (3,700 m2) of meeting/event space spread over 33 rooms. Located inside the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown are the Champions Sports Bar and the Circle City Bar and Grille. Newly-renovated hotel rooms and suites are a representation of modern luxury with rich furnishings, unique decor and expansive windows.

Description of the Location:
Indianapolis, often shortened to Indy, is the state capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Indiana and the seat of Marion County. According to 2017 estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, the consolidated population of Indianapolis and Marion County was 872,680.
From the legendary Indianapolis 500 to the Pacers and the Colts, the city offers ample opportunities to view professional and amateur sporting events, take part in athletic events and visit sports museums.

Description of the Training:
Step into the kitchen of a world-leading luxury hotel/resort and learn from the best chefs in the American hospitality industry at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown. Through the J-1 program, you will rotate to different stations, acquiring the skills and techniques necessary to take the culinary world by storm. This rotational program is designed to give you exposure to the international hospitality industry and give you the experience needed to excel in your career when you return to your home country.

Description of the Position:
Train in all areas of Culinary, including, but not limited to, Banquets, Pastry and Outlet kitchens:
• Learn to ensure high quality and consistency of food preparation and presentation as per Hotel’s standards;
• Welcome guests and colleagues in a polite and friendly manner;
• Train with Chefs across multiple kitchens to perform tasks as needed;
• Learn various Culinary tasks within each kitchen;
• Ensure compliance of all Hotel's standards;
• Learn to strive to achieve departmental targets;
• Ensure cleanliness of work areas;
• During training, ensure to be in compliance with all Hotel's health and safety policies;
• Perform all other reasonable duties as needed.

Requirements

• Conversational English required;
• Must be a current student of a Culinary Arts post-secondary academic institution;
• Or recent graduate (less than 12 months ago) of a Culinary Arts post-secondary academic institution;
• Or a graduate of a Culinary Arts post-secondary academic institution (more than 12 months ago,) with 12 months of verifiable related work experience;
• Or must have 5 years of verifiable related work experience.

• Good communication skills;
• Commitment to delivering high levels of customer service;
• A polished and professional appearance and compliance with Hotel grooming standards;
• Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations;
• Ability to work calmly while meeting deadlines.
