Jumeirah Vittaveli Maldives is recruiting for a Bartender to join our exceptional team. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for someone with proven hospitality experience who is personable and capable to quickly establish their credibility.

Objective:

• Provide friendly, professional and efficient bar service ensuring maximum guest satisfaction in a manner consistent with Jumeirah Standards.
• Maintain efficient workflow by adhering to the Sequence of Service and all time frames and standards detailed in relevant SOPs in the F&B Standards Manual
• Should be flexible and ready to work any shift given as per the requirement of the Outlet managers and adhere to company service standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Meet all reasonable needs and requests of customers within specified time frames.
• Recognize customer dissatisfaction promptly and take action to resolve the situation according to individual level of responsibility and JVM customer feedback/ complaint procedures.
• Offer assistance to colleagues when required, to ensure designated work goals are met.
• Demonstrate trust, support and respect towards team members in day-to-day work activities.
• Ensure high standards of personal presentation at all times in accordance with Jumeirah Grooming & Presentation Standards
• Seek assistance from other team members, supervisors and managers when required.
• Take orders from customers and Waiter/Waitress in a timely, professional and friendly manner.
• Prepare mixed drinks, cocktails & other beverages according to the defined recipe standards
• Order or requisitions liquors and supplies utilizing the FBM system.
• Ensure all bottles and glasses are arranged neatly to make an attractive display.
• Ensure that all stock is established as per par levels and stored according to Jumeirah Food Hygiene Standards.
• Ensure that the mis-en-place of the bar i.e., condiments, tray cloths, cocktail napkins etc. are ready for service as per the requirements of the individual outlet and expected business level requirements prior to opening.
• Ensure that the guest is presented with the correct order and that all drinks are prepared and served as agreed in the standard operating procedures.
• Maintain a complete knowledge of cocktails, beverages and wines to advise the guests and colleagues when necessary.
• Undertake opening, closing & cleaning tasks as detailed on checklists.
• Inform Team leader/Manager of any stock losses, problems or unavailable items.
• Assist in the stocktaking of beverages and operating equipment.
• Coordinate with Stewarding to ensure equipment and bar area is kept hygienically clean and tidy at all times and sufficient glassware is available for the levels of business.
• Control and rotate stock on a FIFO (first in first out) system.
• Ensure the checking of expiration dates and that all perishable garnishes are stored and recorded in designated storage area.
• Communicate details of complaints or issues that could result in complaints, loss of business, productivity or profit to the Team Leader/Manager.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date temperature records for all fridge units within the bar whilst on duty.
• Complete all cashiering paperwork according to Jumeirah International cashiering procedures.
• Review the notice board and outlet briefing sheets on a daily basis to be well informed of hotel events, guest information, sold-out items, daily specials and any other information that may be relevant to the job.
• Complete cleaning, opening & closing checklists when instructed by senior colleagues.
• Maximize sales and profit by providing excellent value and service and utilizing suggestive and up-selling techniques.
• Ensure that care is taken in the handling of all operating equipment so as to minimize breakage/damage.
• Ensure all bills are checked for accuracy prior to presentation.
• Attend training sessions as scheduled.
• Report any possible theft or misuse of Resort property immediately to a member of management.
• Perform any duties and special projects as requested by Senior Management whether in your own department or any other department in the resort.

About you

Qualifications and experience:

Essential:
• Have completed secondary school education
Desirable:
• F&B and guest services background
• Hotel diploma/degree
• WSET

• Previous experience in a five star hotel or upmarket cocktail bar
Skills & Attributes:

Essential:
• Intermediate to Advanced levels of Business English
• Advanced knowledge of wine, spirits & cocktails
• Excellent guest service skills
• Good problem solving skills
• The ability to multitask & work well under pressure

Desirable:
• Good knowledge of HACCP practices
