Assistant Finance Manager

About the job

• Assist the Belgium finance manager in fulfilling his role and responsibilities, which include the following:
o Managing work allocation, systems training, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective and efficient team dynamic
o Work within the Global Finance Team to roll out the company strategic plans and agenda
o Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data for board of directors and other external authorities
o Business Performance and Optimization
o Accounting, Internal Controls and Administration
o Updating weekly cash flow forecast
o Invoice review and approvals
o Preparing payment runs, ensuring good Accounts Payable management
o Create financial models allowing to accurately study performance trends for accurate decision making
o Implement policies, procedures and processes as deemed appropriate by senior leadership team
o Assess and evaluate financial performance of organization regarding long term operational goals, budgets and forecasts
o Review and analyze monthly financial results and assess future risks and opportunities
o Develop and maintain monthly operating budget and annual company operating budget
o Develop and supervise the creation of enterprise reporting, software implementation and tools for budgeting and forecasting
o Explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks
o Identify, acquire and implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information
o Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures
o Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases and financial software
o Oversee the preparation and communication of weekly, monthly and annual financial statements
o Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all tax returns
o Work with Human Resources to ensure appropriate legal compliance
o Lead all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts and overhead cost allocation; reviewing procedures to improve efficiencies
o Oversee weekly cash management; oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables teams
o Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems
o Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits

About you

Hard Requirements
• 1-3 years of working experience in finance / accounting related roles
• Bachelor’s degree in business / finance / accounting
• Fluent in French, English and Dutch

Soft Requirements
• Excellent analytical reasoning, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge and Understanding of GAAP, IFRS
• Experience using accounting systems (Navision preferred)
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Background coordinating with I.T. staff to manage and/or upgrade accounting system. Systems implementation experience strongly preferred
• Experience in the food industry
  • Languages required: Dutch, English, and French.
