The company
We are a Middle Eastern inspired bistro and bakehouse in the heart of Mriehel. We think food is beautiful. We love the smell, the colours and the taste of our food. At the heart of what we do, is our customer. We strive in providing a nourishing experience to our loyal customers. Food makes us happy and we want our customers to share in our happiness. Our food is prepared without cutting corners and we always choose the best ingredients for our dishes.
At our bistro and bakehouse you can pick up a freshly brewed coffee, provided for us by local coffee roasters Lot sixty one. You can choose a freshly prepared salad, one of our Middle Eastern inspired pies, a selection of breads or a delicious cake prepared by our experienced pastry chefs to eat in, take away or have delivered straight to your office. In the evening, join us for a selection of mezze, shish kebab or a Lebanese manoushe pizza or lahmacun. We also provide a selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes.
The inspiration behind Levantina Bistro Bakehouse started 7 years ago when chef patron Silvana decided to quit the financial services world for an intensive cooking course at Tante Marie School of Cooking in Surrey, which is partially owned by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. There she learned classic French cuisine and acquired the much respected Cordon Bleu Diploma. An experience she will never forget is when Gordon Ramsay visited the school and spoke to each and every student. The only “F” word that he uttered that day was “fantastic” as he inspected the chocolate decorations the students were working on.
The greatest inspiration though came from an experienced chef and teacher at Tante Marie School of Cooking called Tim. Tim spoke very fondly of chef Yotam Ottolenghi, a London based restauranteur, celebrity chef, cookery book writer and a regular food columnist for The Guardian newspaper in the UK. His combination of flavours and his talent in presenting interesting Middle Eastern inspired dishes, gave chef Silvana a new perspective on food. This perspective is what inspires the team behind Levantina to present customers with flavoursome food every day.
