About the job

Our fantastic bar here at The London Marriott Hotel Canary Wharf is called G&Tea. It boasts over 180 different types of gin, as well as a generous selection of teas. It is open all day from early to late and is a brilliant gathering point for people living and working in London's vibrant Canary Wharf district.

The Head Bartender role is focused on ensuring G&Tea is operating effectively and that all guests and Associates are looked after. The position reports into the Beverages Manager. There is a generous package for the role, including excellent service charge opportunity.

About you

This is a very exciting role for an individual who is passionate about people, food & drinks! Previous experience in a bar or cocktail bar is essential for this role. The role is full time (c. 40 hours a week) and requires some late nights, so a degree of flexibility is important as well.

The duties will involve, but will not be limited to:

• Answer guest questions or concerns regarding the origin and style of various gins.
• Check quality and quantity of all stock and supplies. Requisition all supplies.
• Communicate last call at designated closing time.
• Prepare drink orders for guests according to specified recipes using measuring systems.
• Count bank at end of shift, complete designated cashier reports, resolve any discrepancies, drop off receipts, and secure bank.
• Obtain change required for expected business level, and keeping bank secure at all times.
• Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counselling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees; and serve as a role model.
• Partner with and assist others to promote an environment of teamwork and achieve common goals.
• Support all co-workers and treat them with dignity and respect.
• Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments.
• Handle sensitive issues with employees and/or guests with tact, respect, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
• Actively listen to and consider the concerns of other employees, responding appropriately and effectively.
