COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

Job Description
Under the general guidance and supervision of the Director of Marketing Communications, and within the limits of established corporate office and hotel policies and procedures, to assist the Director of Marketing Communications in all matters relating to public relations, marketing, social media and other marketing communication issues to achieve a maximum level of publicity for the hotel in its efforts to be recognized as the premier luxury hotel in Malaysia.
Responsibilities: -
Media Relations
- Assist the Director of Marketing Communications in creating marketing strategies that build brand recognition
- Create new releases on F&B / hotel’s new products / services / packages, appointments of key personnel, newsworthy stories and ensure they are released on time
- Maintains regular contact with local press and initiate media coverage for hotel promotional activities to increase visibility and regular exposure across multiple mediums ie print, digital (edm, website), social media
- Plan and execute press reviews for F&B and Spa
- Monitor, analyze & communicate PR results on a monthly basis and compile for distribution to EXCOs, DHAs and DHBs
- Leverage existing relationships and cultivate new contacts within business and industry media
- Handles film / photography requests with approval from the Director of Marketing Communications and ensure appropriate credit for hotel is accorded
- Meet with visiting press personnel and provide information, tour of hotel facilities and services and attending to hotel / city request as and when required or in the absence of the Director of Marketing Communications
- Propose and coordinate itinerary for visiting journalists when required
- Manage press queries, speak on behalf of the Director of Marketing Communications and coordinate all interviews with respective EXCOs and DHAs in the absence of the Director of Marketing Communications
- Assist the Director of Marketing Communications in managing crisis and act a hotel spokesperson in the absence of the Director of Marketing Communications
- Liaise with MOHG-appointed international PR agencies and Corporate Communications in the absence of the Director of Marketing Communications, or whenever required
- Represents hotel at all press events, when required or in the absence of the Director of Marketing Communications
Social Media Management
- Work with the Assistant Digital Marketing Manager to prepare and present a viable social media content strategy that will support the delivery of the hotel’s strategic aims that strive to achieve high level of engagement among fans / followers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Sina Weibo and WeChat
- Execute the approved social media content strategy plan
- Consolidate accurate information of products and services prior to updating on any social media platform
- Review the monthly digital marketing report and review strategy with the Assistant Digital Marketing Manager if adjustments are necessary
- Recognize opportunities on social media to enhance hotel’s brand awareness and / or sales conversion
Consumer Marketing & e-Commerce
- Schedule and submit F&B and / or Spa offers via MOHG’s Email Layout Management Organizer (ELMO)
- Ensure eDMs are sent to appropriate databases
- Ensure that all databases kept under the PR department are in adherence to PDPA and GDPR
- Collate databases from F&B and Spa on a monthly basis
- Regularly update News and Events section in MO.com
PR & Marketing Expenses
- Develop a communications plan that includes strategy, goals, budget and tactics
- Assist the Director of Marketing Communications in preparing the annual PR and Advertising plans
- Plan and execute activities laid out in the PR and Advertising plans
- For ad hoc advertising agency appointments – to brief, liaise and monitor progress of projects
- Translate the requirements of the hotel into a comprehensive and specific advertising brief for the agency, when required

- Ability to coordinate the efforts of a large team of diverse employees
- Ability to develop creative and engaging communications content and activities
- Versatile in using print-based and technology-driven communications channels
- Basic skills and understanding of design and photography
- Understanding in social media, new media, research and analytical skills
- Excellent media contacts
- Excellent communication and time-management skills
- Sound understanding of PR and marketing principles
- Strong administration and organizational skills
- Fluent in English both written and verbal, fluency in other languages are an added advantage
- Strong work ethics
- Personable, presentable and articulate
- Able to work under tight deadlines and with minimal supervision

Qualification
- Degree or Diploma in Public Relations / Mass Communications (or a professional qualification)
- Minimum 5 years of public relations or marketing communications in the hospitality industry or related field
