JOB SUMMARY
 

The Director, Capabilities - Cobrand, is a critical member of the Cobrand Card team leading development and implementation of a technology strategy and roadmap that supports the business’s current needs and future growth strategy. The Global Cards team is responsible for driving material profit to Marriot International in 2018, with significant growth goals in subsequent years. Cards is an exciting and growing part of the business, and is a critical pillar in the company’s growth plans in the coming years.

The position will report into the VP of Partner Management and NPD - Cobrand. The primary responsibility is to develop and lead the roadmap of capabilities that must be developed to support the cobrand business both internally at Marriott and with the two bank partners who issue Marriott’s cobrand cards.  As we develop and launch new products and benefits this role will be play a key role in ensuring those offerings are set up for success from a strategic, execution and tracking perspective to enable success.  As part of the successful development and deployment of capabilities this role will also lead the assessment and development of process improvements both within the marketing function as well as with our capabilities and customer service touchpoints. This position will be responsible for engaging BMSC Leadership to understand the requirements and resources needed to plan and execute identified products and enhancements and will enable successful delivery.

Success in this role requires strong strategic thinking skills, an understanding of and passion for technology and how it supports business, a proven ability to manage multiple projects at the same time, and a willingness to be tested on difficult projects and initiatives.      

The individual will focus primarily on projects in the following areas:

  • Product and Benefit assessment work to inform technology needs required across Marriott and bank partners
  • Create IT roadmap and execution plan to enable cobrand to develop and deploy products and benefits to enable aggressive growth and customer experience ambition
  • Work across organization on technology and data needs assessment and implementation of various technical platforms and requirements
  • Work with internal and bank partners to drive streamlined execution of projects
  • Determine reengineering opportunities to make implementation more streamlined and save both time and resources.  This role will be charged with evaluation of those opportunities across teams
 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

Education and Experience Required

 
  • Proven track record of leading large cross functional technology / business projects with significant measurable impact in large, complex organizations, using a variety of analysis, development and delivery methodologies
  • Minimum of eight years of solid organization and team development work experience; demonstrated progressive growth from more junior to senior roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with and influencing cross-functional work teams in a matrix organization.
  • Experience defining capabilities needs and working with functions that span analytics and technology
  • Hospitality/Lodging industry experience, a plus
  • BA or BS required
  • MBA strongly preferred
 

Experience Preferred

  • 6+ years’ experience leading the planning and execution of strategic projects and initiatives specifically in the area of technology and analytics
 

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Project and Strategy Leadership

Leads cross-functional working teams comprised of senior discipline experts from Technology, Cobrand, CX and the bank partners to:

  • Develop, socialize and execute against a comprehensive central strategy and technology roadmap for cobrand that maps to the growth strategy
  • Plan and implement identified analytics and technology needs to support cobrand
  • Partner with cross discipline teams and to meet project objectives and goals on time and on budget.
  • Lead reengineering and process improvement work and set goals for it accordingly

  • Deliver presentations related to the analytics and technology roadmap development, project execution and management to senior management and other key stakeholders (e.g., owners, associates, customers).
