JOB SUMMARY

 

The Senior Manager, New Product Development, is a key member of the Global Cobrand Cards team. The Global Cards team is responsible for driving material profit to Marriot International in 2018, with significant growth goals in subsequent years. Cards is an exciting and growing part of the business, and is a critical pillar in the company’s growth plans in the coming years.

 

Reporting into the Sr. Director, New Product Development, the role will be responsible for building the strategic plan and roadmap to deliver on Cards long term goals, working with their leader, internal colleagues and bank partners. Strengthening Card portfolio value proposition is one of the critical growth platforms for the company – this role will be central to defining the strategy and leading implementation of this platform.

 

This person will lead the new product development function, developing the medium and long term new product roadmap, which includes developing the customer insight and competitive intelligence to propose new product constructs, building the value propositions, creating the business case, and driving execution of the required product and technology enhancements.

  • Building deep customer insight and how specific benefits/ ideas drive value to customers will be critical in this role. The person will be the in-house expert on customer insight particularly as it relates to developing and testing product value proposition and benefits
  • Develop a robust understanding of the competitive landscape, leveraging insight and trends not just in the hotel co-brand space, but also other benchmarks in the credit card and loyalty space
  • Effective execution will be a key determinant of success in this role – effectively managing projects and working with stakeholders within a matrixed organization to deliver results. It will be important build a strong understanding of what it will take to drive the ideas/ new benefits to execution, both in terms of complexity and resources required.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

Education and Experience 

  • 5+ years of professional experience in product management and/ or marketing roles
  • Deep understanding of consumers; experience evaluating new product ideas and testing them with consumers
  • Experience building compelling business cases for new ideas and making convincing pitches to internal or external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to drive ideas to execution, delivering measurable results
  • MBA preferred
  • Experience in credit card issuer or financial services product management preferred

New Product Development

  • Develop medium and long term new product roadmap, which includes developing the customer insight and competitive intelligence to propose new product constructs
  • Develop pipeline of ideas; put in place streamlined and efficient idea assessment process (including customer feedback, feasibility, economic analysis) to prioritize benefits/ constructs
  • From the above input, create the value propositions that will win with customers and drive profitable growth
  • Create the business case and ensure it gets approved by both internal and external stakeholders
  • Drive execution of approved ideas—work with internal and external stakeholders to execute the new products/value propositions
