Description of the Property:
Overlooking the river, this upscale hotel is 0.8 miles from the Wilson Dam and 6.4 miles from the Northwest Alabama Regional Airport. Polished rooms and suites with river views, feature balconies, flat-screen TVs and free WiFi, plus minifridges and coffeemakers. Upgraded rooms add club lounge access with complimentary hot breakfast; some have fireplaces. Amenities include a refined revolving restaurant, and a casual lounge bar and grill with nightly live music, as well as a spa, and indoor and outdoor pools; 1 with a slide. There's also a game room, fitness center and a business center, in addition to free parking and an airport shuttle.

Description of the Location:
Florence is a city in, and the county seat of, Lauderdale County, Alabama, United States, in the state's northwest corner. Florence is the largest and principal city of the Florence-Muscle Shoals Metropolitan Statistical Area (which includes Muscle Shoals, Sheffield, and Tuscumbia metropolitan areas in Colbert and Lauderdale counties). Florence is considered northwestern Alabama's primary economic hub. Annual tourism events include the W. C. Handy Music Festival in the summer and the Renaissance Faire in the fall. Landmarks in Florence include the Rosenbaum House, the only Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home located in Alabama.

Description of the Training:
Step into the kitchen of a world-leading luxury hotel/resort and learn from the best chefs in the American hospitality industry. Through the J-1 program, you will rotate to different stations, acquiring the skills and techniques necessary to take the culinary world by storm. This rotational program is designed to give you exposure to the international hospitality industry and give you the experience needed to excel in your career when you return to your home country.

Description of the Position:
Train in all areas of Culinary, including, but not limited to, Banquets, Pastry and Outlet kitchens:
• Learn to ensure high quality and consistency of food preparation and presentation as per Hotel’s standards;
• Welcome guests and colleagues in a polite and friendly manner;
• Train with Chefs across multiple kitchens to perform tasks as needed;
• Learn various Culinary tasks within each kitchen;
• Ensure compliance of all Hotel's standards;
• Learn to strive to achieve departmental targets;
• Ensure cleanliness of work areas;
• During training, ensure to be in compliance with all Hotel's health and safety policies;
• Perform all other reasonable duties as needed.

Requirements

• Conversational English required;
• Must be a current student of a Culinary Arts post-secondary academic institution;
• Or recent graduate (less than 12 months ago) of a Culinary Arts post-secondary academic institution;
• Or a graduate of a Culinary Arts post-secondary academic institution (more than 12 months ago,) with 12 months of verifiable related work experience;
• Or must have 5 years of verifiable related work experience.

• Min. of 6 months of culinary work experience required;
• Knife skills;
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions;
• Positive attitude;
• Good communication skills;
• Commitment to delivering high levels of customer service;
• A polished and professional appearance and compliance with Hotel grooming standards;
• Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations;
• Ability to work calmly while meeting deadlines.
