JOB SUMMARY

As a member of the Consumer Payments team, this position will closely partner with the VP, Consumer Payments, to manage/drive development and execution of Marriott’s Global Payments strategy.  This position will support the team in the seamless integration of Marriott’s existing platforms and current/future partner relationships (i.e., Accenture, Chase, Elavon, Bank of America). She/he will support the definition and execution of solutions that meet the requirements of Marriott’s payment strategies and business opportunities.  Support will include providing oversight and leadership of infrastructure development and a cost recovery model to process customer settlements above property and enhance on-property payment capabilities. Under the direction of the VP, Consumer Payments, this position will also work with internal discipline partners to align Global Payments with other key business strategies and participate in the engagement of owners & franchisees to align interests. She/he will collaborate with Global Finance, IT, Global Operations, BMSC, Legal, and the various Finance BPO Service Provider(s) while functioning as a Global Payments subject matter expert.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Partner with VP, Consumer Payments, key business and discipline leader, and key external partners to execute against a Global Payments strategy and operational plan.
  • Lead and drive internal stakeholders and external partners to drive action, development and business processes, cost recovery models and business cases, enhancements to enabling technology to facilitate above-property customer settlement, improved customer experience and operational efficiencies.
  • Lead the definition and management of the financial performance, budgets and KPI’s fo the Global Payments project (MagLev).
  • Drive the management of ongoing partner relationships.
  • Develop initial RFP drafts for third-party providers to support Global Payment and other related business strategies, where applicable (e.g. BMSC Big Data).
  • Participate in and drive contract negotiation efforts with third-party providers with research, financial, and data driven insights which align to Marriott’s Global Payments business strategies.
  • Establish and maintains regular reporting and communication with key stakeholders regarding pertinent strategic initiative activities and developments.
  • Partner with the VP, Global Payments to validate Service Provider(s) and ensure contract terms and conditions, commitments, and notifications are adhered to.
  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with corporate and continent finance teams to understand the business and ensure timely exchange of information.  Provide ongoing advice and guidance to internal stakeholders concerning matters related to Global Payments.
  • Develop and/or participate in benchmarking and market-to-market activities to stay abreast of trends and bring best-practices to Marriott’s model.
  • Provide management oversight of junior team members on the Global Payments team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Identify, drive, and track compliance and regulatory changes as required.
  • Identify, raise, and as appropriate resolve key decisions, escalations, and/or risks.

Key Talents and Experience

  • Minimum 12 or more years of broad financial management experience in a global organization with increasing management responsibility.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the payments industry, landscape and interoperability.
  • Knowledge and understanding of lodging industry.
  • Ability to effectively understand and communicate with technology and finance stakeholders
  • Experience with large-scale, complex program and/or process management.
  • Experience with large-scale initiatives and managing associated change.
  • Strong business acumen and service orientation.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted finance and accounting policies, principles and controls.

Education and Professional Certification

  • Baccalaureate degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline required or equivalent related experience
  • MBA or Graduate Degree preferred

  • This position will be based at MI Corporate Headquarters, with the ability to consider remote workers.
