Have you ever wondered how a wax figure is created? This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the artistry behind our world renowned brand Madame Tussauds. We are currently recruiting for a Figure Stylist (12 month contract) based at our studios in Acton, London. Your role will be instrumental in our vision to bring wax figures to life. From royalty to rock-stars, you will create briefs that define the pose, expression and styling for a diverse range of historical and contemporary celebrities. Working closely with the Senior Stylist and Production Teams you will support and advise during all aspects of the figure’s creation to ensure the finished look meets customer expectations.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who is an efficient organiser with excellent communication, decision making and problem solving skills. Working closely with our Creative & Production Teams you must be confident in your own work, innovative and able to work well under pressure. The ability to remain positive and calm in a fast paced environment, to listen, take creative direction and have a good eye for detail is essential.
We are looking for the following skills and experience\:
Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent with experience working either in fashion or film, theatre or opera in a costuming /styling capacity
Effective costume interpretation, competence in fitting costume and ability to lead in accurate costume construction.
An in depth knowledge of fashion, fabric and accessories in both a historic and contemporary context and awareness of historic and contemporary props and how to source them
We are particularly interested in applicants with knowledge and interest in Chinese culture and an ability to speak Mandarin due to the nature of our projects
Strong computer skills including competency using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as knowledge of how to use the internet as a research tool.
Ability to communicate designs to costume makers through appropriate technical language and illustration
Knowledge of costume and fashion copyright
Experience working to agreed budgets
Ability to design with creativity and flair, whilst considering cost effectiveness and durability
This is a fixed-term, 12 month contract and the work hours are 9.00am-5.00pm Monday to Friday (37.5 hours) but the need to be flexible as workload demands is essential.
