About the job

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to ensure validity and accuracy of all payroll calculations and to handle and monitor all matters relating to payroll throughout the hotel in a timely manner. The senior finance team will outline key tasks with the Payroll Officer taking day-to-day ownership of the payroll tasks.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure that gross payroll costs have been calculated to accurately represent each employee's authorised salaries/wages
  • Ensure that all payments/deductions are properly authorised and accurately calculated and processed
  • Liaise with all departments to ensure that rotas are correctly completed and submitted to payroll on a weekly basis
  • Monitor actual and contracted hours
  • Investigate and resolve queries raised by managers and employees
  • Ensure that all queries are dealt with in a timely and appropriate manner, and that employees are advised of timescales if further investigation is required
  • Manage the processing and administration of monthly payroll by the payroll bureau
  • Liaise with Human Resources regarding staff appointments, terminations, remuneration, conditions of service, and other relevant matters
  • Check and calculate manual payments, advances and other ad hoc payments
  • Calculate and process pension contributions for multiple schemes, including pension payments to providers
  • Ensure that all statutory reporting is completed within the legislated deadlines, including monthly RTI submissions, year-end statutory returns such as P11D, PSA and Form 42
  • Prepare service charge reconciliation
  • Prepare month-end journals
  • Analyse and reconcile payroll related balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Ensure that payroll related documents and correspondence are filed in a timely and organised manner

Experience required

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Previous high volume hotel experience is preferable
  • Advanced knowledge of Sun and Vision
  • Advanced experience in Fourth Hospitality
  • Proven experience using Opera
  • Sound decision making.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A positive attitude and excellent communication skills
