About your Job:

Manager Technical Support manages technical service-related operations for Technical Department. You will effectively oversee the management of Tooling, Ground Support and IT Services to ensure that all jobs are completed on time, within budget, and to stakeholders’ specifications. You will ensure that physical inventory levels are monitored and replenished as needed. You are responsible for designing and implementing improved process or operational policies. You will recommend changes to products or services to fulfil Stakeholder needs. You will ensure that support requirements are continually reviewed and that the team can provide the required services. You will ensure that Qatar Airways Technical is fully supported by all Ground Maintenance Tooling and IT Systems.

 Specific responsibilities for the role include:

Tactical / Operational

  • Management of resource control systems, that enables plans, schedules and guides the work activities of the tool stores and Ground support Equipment workshop, in order to ensure timely delivery of tasks/services and highest level quality and productivity.
  • Ensures that all members of team follow the technological developments and the insertion of new equipment/ tooling and working methods. Identifies training needs and arranges for regular training in order to perform their duties effectively.
  • Develop Strategic short term plans varying from 6 months to 2 years  for the implementation of new technologies (example: Implementation of the RFID / Tracking systems for the tooling and Equipment) for the better services being offered for the maintenance teams on time.
  • Manages the Technical Ground support for all Qatar Airways aircraft’s maintenance in Doha
  • Monitor and improve the procedures, policies and processes (examples: Technical procedures manual, Standard Operation Procedures, Internal policies and Memos for the working staff)  that are required for the availability of the on-time and quality ground support for all the Qatar airways aircraft’s Maintenance in Doha.
  • Ensures the quality standards of all Equipment and Tooling. Monitors the production build, assembly quality standards and specification compliance with emphasis on continuous improvement in order to meet the operational requirements by providing safe and reliable Ground support tooling and Equipment.Responsible for the maintenance management of aircraft tools and equipment for the Maintenance Teams Maintain the very highest of standards of cleanliness, organization and safety through personal leadership and intervention.
  • To contribute to the continuous development and improvement of the maintenance control process and systems by ensuring serviceability of tooling as defined within EASA Part 145 UG.CAO.00132-001 regulations by researching permanent records, maintenance tracking program, QACC Directives and Manufacturer’s Service Bulletins/Tool Change Bulletins.
  • Review the comprehensive reporting formats, like the status of the Unserviceable Equipment to the production and planning department daily to ensure the serviceability of the tooling and equipment. this is to alert them to avoid any unforeseen delays due to unavailability of tools and equipment.
  • Perform maintenance planning along with the management oversight of inspections, repairs and modifications of Aircraft Tooling and IT systems. Performs quality maintenance, preventive maintenance and inspections to conform within the standards established by the company, QACC regulation and industry best practices achieving the highest reliability goals. Leading the Specialists, in troubleshooting reported discrepancies and handles complex technical challenges like tooling or Equipment becoming unserviceable when required and immediate decisions to be taken (which are proposed by the Tool Manager and / or GSE manager w.r.t  the tools or Equipment)  in order to meet the operational requirements .
  • Responsible to ensure the availability of parts and materials when required / demanded by the operations and/ or AOG requirements for the serviceability of tools and equipment.
  • To provide a system that manages all equipment assigned to Technical that includes protection, cost assessment, planned maintenance, warranty control and reliability.
  • To control and monitor the planned maintenance and any in-service deferred or repetitive defects of the Ground support equipment in order to meet the operational requirement and to avoid additional costs of leasing the equipment.
  • Prepare and monitor Tooling and IT Support cost centre budget.
  • Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with   all   legal,   official   and   safety   regulations,   as well as   internal   and     external audit requirements.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and reports any unsafe conditions.
  • Complies with internal company policies and procedures outlined within the Technical Procedures Manual (TPM) or any company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) document.
  • Addresses quality and non-compliance concerns and trends to the responsible party within both OEM and the associated suppliers.

Stakeholder Management

  • Acts as the principle point of contact with the VP Base Maintenance and VP Line Maintenance for all Tooling and IT support related activities, in terms of maintenance, investment and operational performance
  • Train and develop other employees, to ensure succession planning is in place.
  • Appoint consultants for professional services relating to projects, surveys and studies into the built environment.
  • Communicates effectively and accurately with the client, vendors and other internal departments.
  • Steering Group members.
  • Provides technical support, as needed

About you:

You hold a relevant college or University qualification to minimum Bachelor's level or a Degree in BSc. Aeronautical , Electrical, Mechanical & Electronics with minimum 8 years of relevant experience. You must have undergone trade related reinforcement training.  You are certified in Aviation tooling or Trade.

You must have experience in Aircraft Equipment and Tools Maintenance experience with supervisory capacity

You should have experience of organization policies, products and processes relative to the area of employment.

You must have good knowledge of QACC Regulations, industry best practices, EASA and CAA requirements.

You should have the ability to organise modification / fabrication of the new components as per manufacturer’s recommendations.
