About your Job:

The Quality and Compliance Manager is responsible for managing Qatar Airways operations from a quality perspective by ensuring 100% compliance to QR Standards Operating Procedures, QCAA, IATA-ISAGO and ICAO regulations. The role is responsible for identifying best practices suitable for Qatar Airways Hub to deliver 5-star experience to passengers on ground. In addition, this role will develop procedures to support compliance to be globally safe and secure airline and be responsible to represent internal and external audits.

The role reports directly to the Senior Vice President – Hub Ground Services.

Specific responsibilities of the role include:

Strategic:

  • Plans, maintains and develop the Customer Services and Ramp Operating Procedures to be compliant with all internal and external regulatory requirements (e.g. Ground Operations Manual, Ground Services Manual, QCAA, ISAGO, ICAO etc.)

  • Plans internal audits across Ground Operations, including but not limited to above the wing and below the wing operations.

Operational:

  • Ensures that the Quality Assurance elements of the Quality System are properly established, implemented and maintained. Ensures that the standards required by the Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), and by Company Policy and Procedures are carried out under the supervision of the Post Holders.

  • Maintains the database of audit non-conformances.

  • Manages the Quality Assurance function of the department and improves the general level of compliance.

  • Assesses International and National Aviation Regulatory Authority and determines their applicability to Qatar Airways Operations.

  • Conducts internal audits on a regular basis or as per operational requirement and provides regular reports and updates to SVP Hub Ground Services.

  • Monitors the internal and external approvals related to proposed progressive procedures to improve customer service and compliancy.

  • Communicates to Training authorities about the implementation of regulatory requirements and refreshers on recurring findings that are highlighted during internal audits.

  • Works closely with the Departments to resolve compliance issues and if required provide recommendation. Monitors/tracks corrective actions.

  • Leads the team to monitor and maintain the Hub’s Key Performance indicators such as On-time Performance, INADs, Baggage, etc. 

  Management:

  • Establishes department or team’s objectives and priorities to align with and support business objectives.

  • Regularly evaluate department or team’s objectives, plan, procedure and practices and make appropriate changes as required.

  • Oversee and supervise employees. Directs daily activities, recruits, trains, develops and disciplines to ensure a high standard of service delivery.

  • Train and develop other employees, to ensure succession planning is in place.

  Operational Safety:

  • Ensure that all employees at all levels understand work health and safety requirements and expectations.

  • Ensure full compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the operations.

  • Ensure all managers and supervisors understand work health and safety requirements and expectations so they can pass on relevant information identifying training needs and provide appropriate supervision.

About you:

You hold a Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of job related experience. You have comprehensive knowledge of airport operations methods, practices and procedures. You are certified as a Quality Auditor to a recognized international standard such as the International Register of Certified Auditors (IRCA) or IATA.  Having performed duties of a Load Controller, Ramp Manger, and Airport Services Manager would be an advantage.

You have strong business acumen, analytical skills and able to challenge others to manage change creatively, implement new approaches and encourage continuous improvement within the Airport Operations. You have exceptional people values; very adept at bringing out strengths in others. You inspire and motivate teams and individuals to meet the organization’s vision and goals. You have the ability to provide a conducive work place that fosters the development of others, facilitates cooperation and teamwork. You have an excellent command of written and spoken English and a strong negotiator.
