Description of the Property:
This high-end resort on 195 hillside acres beneath the peaks of Squaw Valley hosted the 1960 Winter Olympics, and is 11 miles from I-80. It has cozy rooms with scenic views and sophisticated suites and penthouses add kitchenettes, living/dining rooms and gas fireplaces. Amenities include a ski lift, guided fly-fishing, 18 km of Nordic trails, a private ice rink, year-round outdoor swimming pools, access to miles of hiking and biking trails, boating, rafting and paddleboarding on nearby Lake Tahoe and the Truckee River, horseback riding, tennis, snowshoeing and the list goes on. There's also an upscale bistro with patio seating, a pub, a deli, 2 seasonal eateries and a breakfast buffet.

Description of the Location:
The resort is located in Squaw Valley, close to Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, straddling the border of California and Nevada. It’s known for its beaches and ski resorts. On the southwest shore, Emerald Bay State Park contains the 1929 Nordic-style mansion Vikingsholm. Along the lake’s northeast side, Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park includes Sand Harbor Beach and Spooner Lake, a gateway to the long-distance Tahoe Rim Trail.

Description of the Training:
Step into the kitchen of a world-leading luxury hotel/resort and learn from the best chefs in the American hospitality industry at Resort at Squaw Creek. Through the J-1 program, you will rotate to different stations, acquiring the skills and techniques necessary to take the culinary world by storm. This rotational program is designed to give you exposure to the international hospitality industry and give you the experience needed to excel in your career when you return to your home country.

Description of the Position:
Train in all areas of Culinary, including, but not limited to, Banquets, Pastry and Outlet kitchens:
• Learn to ensure high quality and consistency of food preparation and presentation as per Hotel’s standards;
• Welcome guests and colleagues in a polite and friendly manner;
• Train with Chefs across multiple kitchens to perform tasks as needed;
• Learn various Culinary tasks within each kitchen;
• Ensure compliance of all Hotel's standards;
• Learn to strive to achieve departmental targets;
• Ensure cleanliness of work areas;
• During training, ensure to be in compliance with all Hotel's health and safety policies;
• Perform all other reasonable duties as needed.

Requirements

• Conversational English required;
• Must be a current student of a Culinary Arts post-secondary academic institution;
• Or recent graduate (less than 12 months ago) of a Culinary Arts post-secondary academic institution;
• Or a graduate of a Culinary Arts post-secondary academic institution (more than 12 months ago,) with 12 months of verifiable related work experience;
• Or must have 5 years of verifiable related work experience.

• Good communication skills;
• Commitment to delivering high levels of customer service;
• A polished and professional appearance and compliance with Hotel grooming standards;
• Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations;
