About the job

We are currently seeking a creative and exceptional pastry chef de partie to join our team at the Zori restaurant.
You will be passionate about working with the finest and freshest ingredients; you will be responsible for the making of an indulgent range of delicate desserts, superb petit fours and other patisserie. You will take an organised approach to your role and prioritise effectively to ensure the smooth running of your section.

DUTIES:
- Work according to the menu specifications by the Head Chef
-Keep work area at all times in hygienic conditions according to the rules set by the restaurant
-Control food stock and food cost in his/her section
-Prepare the daily mis-en-place and food production in different sections of the main kitchen
-Follow the instructions and recommendations from the immediate superiors to complete the daily tasks
-Ensure the highest standards and consistent quality in the daily preparation and keep up to date with the new products, recipes and preparation techniques
-Coordinate and participate with other sections of requirements, cleanliness, wastage and cost control
-Operate in a safe and environmentally friendly way to protect guests’ and colleagues’ health and safety, as well as protect and conserve the environment
-Comply with the restaurant environmental, health and safety policies and procedures

About you

-Professional diploma in baking and pastry is an asset
-A high degree of artistic flair and cake decoration skills
-Excellent attention to detail
-A high standard of personal presentation
-Ability to work under pressure
-Confident and professional approach
-Knowledge of English language
  • Language required: English. Italian is a plus

Iva Tomlinovic, is the third generation chef, and she, together with her husband Renato, have been running this family business for over 10 years. Before them, her mother & father ran the business for over 30 years, and before them, her father's uncle & his wife (ZOrko & RIta – that's where the name ZORI comes) were the first generation of the family to begin the Zori story on the Pakleni Islands, in 1947.

Iva oversees the cooking and runs the restaurant, whilst Renato goes to the market in Hvar at daybreak everyday to procure only the best and freshest local produce for the restaurant. As a restaurant manager for 15 years, Iva cultivated her creativity and satisfied the most demanding of guests from all over the world.
