Position Description

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION


To achieve the hotel’s operating goals by maximising employee productivity and well being and achieve the hotel’s guest service objectives.  In addition, the job incumbent pro-actively handles personnel administration, directs and implements training programs, and human resources guidelines, policies and procedures in accordance with local laws, union agreements, the hotel’s guidelines and business plan, the Departmental business plan, the Radisson Hotel Group’s Corporate Human Resources Guidelines and service concepts.


 


TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


MAXIMISE EMPLOYEE PRODUCTIVITY AND WELL BEING AND ACHIEVE THE HOTEL’S GUEST SERVICE OBJECTIVES



  • Directs and co-ordinates all employee and labour relations activities within the hotel, to ensure compliance with the law

  • Analyses hotel manpower requirements and makes recommendations on selection and development activities to meet manpower needs

  • Develops and implements recruiting and screening systems and procedures to attract qualified candidates for vacancies



  • Together with Department Heads and General Manager, identifies employees for development, recommends and monitors individual development plans

  • Develops employees to maximise their potential and prepares them for future promotional opportunities by conducting counselling sessions where development needs are discussed

  •  Determines and communicates standards of performance to employees

  •  Evaluates employee performance regularly

  •  Ensures disciplinary action is taken as required utilising consistency, fairness and respect

  •  Negotiates, implements and interprets union contracts

  • Meets and exceeds expectations of employees by utilising leadership skills and motivation techniques to maximise employee productivity and satisfaction

  •  Ensures that required training programmes are conducted regularly

  • Assists Department Heads to address departmental training needs, and to develop departmental training plans

  • Increases the consistency of customer service and supervisory leadership skills by utilising training as a strategy to achieve customer service and operational goals

  • Conducts management training courses regularly

  • Drives the Radisson culture by developing and conducting new hire orientation training programmes to foster a positive attitude and understanding of the Radisson Hotel Group’s goals

  • Ensures that all new employees receive structured employee orientation, following the agenda and material of the relevant branded “new hire orientation programme”

  • Responsible Business: show involvement and be interested in environmental and/or social issues by participating in Responsible Business hotel and departmental activities


Position Requirements and Offer Details

  • A solid background in Human Resources with minimum 4 – 5 years’ experience,  exposure within a branded 4/5 star hotel in same/similar role would be an added advantage

  • Degree in Human Resources or similar qualification from a recognized University

  • Good command of English oral and written is a must

  • Highest personal, ethical, confidentiality and performance standards

  •  Be self-reliant and be able to work with minimal supervision

  • Knowledgeable on Zambian Labour Laws

  • Must be a member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management

  • Must be a Zambian National



The position will be based in Lusaka Zambia

Hotel or Business Details
The Radisson Blu Hotel Lusaka opened its doors to the public on 3rd September 2012. The hotel features 142 elegant rooms & suites offering complimentary high - speed internet access.
