About the job

SiteMinder is the chosen solution for over 28,000 hotels to help them grow by expanding and optimising their online guest acquisition. Features include distributing their hotels’ rates and availability to over 350 online travel channels (such as Expedia, booking.com and Agoda), helping them drive more guest bookings from their website, and offering business analytics to help them make decisions around rates and packages.  

With such a large customer base in over 160 countries and 5 products we have collected a diverse set of numerical, textual, audio, visual, and unstructured data.

What we need now is a Data Scientist who will be instrumental in helping SiteMinder successfully scale and make data-informed decisions. You will also play a critical role in enabling our continued growth by owning end-to-end analytical projects and mining our data for insights that will propel us forward.

The successful candidate will be naturally curious, enjoy finding patterns across datasets and value surfacing insights to influence business decisions.

About you

This job is all about working on some exciting data projects:
  • Building statistical models to assess what factors impact retention and then partner with our customer success team to define / implement a new customer engagement metric
  • Developing machine learning models to help our Sales team prioritise what leads to focus on
  • Working with our Support team to convert unstructured call data into insights about where our products fall short, and then partner with our Product team to make improvements  
  • Building customer lifetime value models and use them to direct Growth Marketing efforts toward where they will have maximum impact
  • Partnering with Product to develop experimentation methodology to ensure our understanding of product changes is rigorous and accurate
  • What you bring to the table:
  • Professional experience in a quantitative field (e.g. data science, analytics, economic consulting); Related Master’s degree a plus
  • Proven ability to combine analytical rigour with strategic thinking to surface insights, create impactful change, and influence decisions
  • Experience querying, manipulating, and analysing large datasets (e.g. SQL)
  • Experience with statistical packages (e.g. R or Python)
  • Keen eye for detail and thoughtful investigation of data before relying on it
