JOB PURPOSE: Oversee the daily operation of the Safety department and enforce all rules, regulations, and policies established by management surrounding the safety, health and environmental functions.  

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cover safety on-duty shifts and ensure guest and team member safety is the highest priority. Perform the minimum number of audits per shift.
  • Assist with the annual review and distribution of the Safety Awareness, Safety Reference, and Emergency Response Procedures Manuals. Work with departments to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct investigations to determine the root cause of guest and employee incidents.
  • Assist with claims reporting and maintain files on potential GL and WC claims, active claims and lawsuits using the company’s risk management application.
  • Act as a liaison between the park and local fire, EMS, hospitals and the county DOH.
  • Ensure OSHA compliance, including complete and accurate documentation for required training according to the company policy.
  • Supervise all activities relating to life and property fire protection, including inspections of fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, fire hydrants, valves, and alarm systems. Perform regular property inspections of rides, grounds, buildings and facilities.
  • Assist with monthly Safety Committee meetings as directed by the Safety Manager.
  • Maintain certificate of insurance and compliance paperwork for any outside vendor working on Six Flags property.
  • Respond to guest comments and resolve guest concerns promptly.
  • Provide leadership, maintain standards and enforce park policies, including grooming guidelines, electronic communication, etc.
  • Review, correct and complete incident documentation, including arrests, ride and site evictions, complaints, use of force, investigations, confiscation of property and all other applicable events not otherwise classified.
  • All other duties assigned or necessary to support the park as a whole and the Administration department.


 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma (or equivalent). A college degree is preferred.
  • Five years of experience in safety, risk management or a related field, including management experience.
  • Must possess above-average communication skills and be able to read, write and speak the English language effectively. Must be able to use a computer to write and approve incident reports.
  • Must be able to maintain an outgoing, friendly, and professional demeanor when interacting with Guests and Team Members
  • Must be able to effectively multi-task and complete assignments in a fast-paced environment, including front-line, managerial, and back-of-house tasks.
  • Must be available to meet the needs of a seasonal business and work flexible hours, including overtime, and during nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Possess a valid NYS EMT certification.
  • Possess a valid New York State Drivers License and successful completion of SFDL Vehicle Training program.

  • Requires occasional carries up to 100 pounds with the assistance of a two-wheel hand truck.
  • Must be able to quickly and effectively respond to situations requiring physical stamina and force.
