Job description

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment and Television Distribution (HETVD) sales team has an opening for a Vice President of Sales – Pay TV & Digital. The ideal candidate will have experience with licensing media and film content in post theatrical, first-run and library (catalog) windows across various platforms including digital providers and MVPDs across the US and Canada. This position will report to the Senior Vice President, Pay Television, Digital, and Film SVOD.
The VP, Sales – Pay TV & Digital, will manage Disney’s film and TV transactional (VOD/EST) business in the US and Canada. Negotiate distribution agreements with all retailers while working closely with internal groups such as Legal, Contracts, Operations and Marketing. Develop and execute a strategy to grow and move current business forward. Responsibilities
  • Formulates Sales strategies for the US/CA in partnership with SVP
  • Sets, approves and adjusts major policies and operating procedures
  • Develops long-range plans
  • Obtains and allocates resources to achieve strategic and operating goals
  • Leverage experience in the media industry to manage global accounts and work alongside the international sales and product management team
  • Manage and lead the sales team in strategizing, negotiating, and closing deals with attention to nuances with international markets
  • Work across various internal groups to drive implementation of content strategies and content distribution deals
  • This position requires some travel
Basic Qualifications
  • Established relationships within pay TV and digital sales community
  • 10+ years of experience managing sales
  • Must have a passion for media/entertainment
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and structurally, with a track record in cross-platform content licensing
  • Exceptional people skills – including written and communications skills required to build and maintain excellent client relationships
  • Ability to travel when necessary
  • Strong referrals required

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the content distribution, affiliate sales, technology, OTT and content licensing landscape is essential
  • Ability to quickly establish oneself as credible with Executive Management
  • Effectively translates data into actionable insights, strategies and financial plans
  • Strong leadership and management skills required
  • Exhibits strong skills in interpersonal communication, writing and organization
  • Understands the competitive landscape and current competitive trends
  • A proven leader in setting directions in order to meet operating goals
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Business Administration or related field required
