Hotel Overview: Nestled on the edge of Alberta’s Lake Louise in the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains, The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is an all-season recreational paradise that has attracted guests from around the world since 1890. Only a two-hour drive west of Calgary, the property is enveloped by some of the most spectacular scenery on the planet. Facilities include 554 guest rooms, Health Club and Spa, five restaurants, a deli and a lounge. As well, we also have retail shopping, a business centre, horseback riding and canoeing in the Summer, and sleigh rides in the Winter.

 

Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Front Office, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service
  •  Responsible for blocking the 554 guest rooms, ensuring the right guest is assigned to the right room to ensure we meet our JD Power goals and room revenue budgets
  • Blocking the best room for guests by touching every reservation, reviewing comments, requests, history, guest type and party-with reservations
  • Have a complete knowledge of all our guest rooms
  • Knowledge of Tour Contracts as it relates to room allocation
  • Knowledge of group business through group masters and blocks, incentive business, convention files and resumes (attend Resume meetings)
  • Foresee and communicate upcoming challenges with our inventory (i.e. Christmas blocking, requests for specific areas of the hotel to be blocked for a convention, conventions, sold-out nights, etc.)
  • Work closely with Reservations Manager, Group Inventory Manager and Tour Operations Supervisor to ensure accurate allocation of rooms
  • Attend weekly Group Resume meeting and handle convention group room requests
  • Knowledge of maintenance rooms and ability to work with the Housekeeping and Engineering team to ensure rooms are placed out of order based on occupancy levels in order to maximize revenue.
  • Assist the Front Desk as required with the arrivals and departures of our guests in order to ensure we meet our JD Power goals
  • To assist the front desk, ensuring room changes and Fairmont President’s Club member arrivals are carried out smoothly Manage Nor 1/e Standby Q and set up in PM Facilitate and be a champion for upsell opportunities.
  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar environment will be an asset
  • Must possess outstanding guest service skills, including professional verbal communication skills
  • Good computer literacy (experience using Property Manager System preferred, and proficiency in MS Word, Outlook and Excel)
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible and reliable, demonstrating initiative as required
  • Proven ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, team-based environment
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including:
    • Frequent standing and walking throughout shift
    • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
    • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
