Summary of Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Operations, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead and coach the Security team to achieve exceptional levels of guest service and colleague satisfaction results, through the application of all Corporate and property standards and policies.
  • Be available for emergencies both on & off duty.
  • Consistent development, support, promotion, and enforcement of hotel policy relating to colleague and guest safety and security.
  • Know and act upon all relevant Federal, Provincial and Municipal Acts to include Trespass to Property, Innkeepers Act, Charter of Rights and Freedom and the powers of arrest.
  • Guide and support all leaders on Health & Safety and Security procedures and ensure they are providing a safe workplace for their colleagues.
  • Health & Safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Assist with departmental recruitment as necessary.
  • Educate all new colleagues on Security through the new hire orientation.
  • Provide security assistance to all guests and colleagues.
  • Key member of the CWR Health & Safety Committee; manage ordering, inventory, and replenishment of all first aid resources, AEDs, and ensure proper training of OFAs.
  • Performance Reviews.
  • Liaison with local law enforcement & community peers.
  • Responsible for departmental budget preparation and control.
  • Scheduling / Payroll.
  • Assist in the development of departmental service standards.
  • Investigate and follow up on all reports made by guests or colleagues.
  • Ensure all incidents are properly recorded and documented as set by standards.
  • Maintain and control all key card access and locks using the Saflok Lock System.
  • Review the Business Continuity Plan semi-annually and ensure that all changes or updates are communicated to colleagues and that all necessary training is provided.
  • Coordination of emergency response training including training exercises.
  • Coordination of resort first aid program.
  • To complete assigned projects and duties as required.
  • Actively participate in The Fairmont Chateau Whistler’s environmental program and department specific initiatives in working towards sustainable operations.
  • Complies with Accor policies, procedures and code of ethic.

Qualifications:  

  • University/College education in related discipline.  
  • Two or more years of security supervisory or management experience. 
  • Experience in Business Continuity Planning / Disaster Preparation.  
  • Experience in budget preparation. 
  • Experience in vulnerability assessment.
  • Knowledge of VIP protection. 
  • Strong knowledge of fire suppression systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Security equipment and industry technology. 
  • Knowledge of emergency response dispatch. 
  • Required to obtain and maintain Occupational First Aid Level II within first 2 months. 
  • Computer literacy with strong knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  • Proven ability to handle competing priorities in a demanding environment. 
  • Flexible to meet constantly changing demands of the workplace. 
  • Exceptional organizational skills with previous experience handling confidential issues.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to develop relationships and foster cooperation.

 

Visa Requirements:  Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
