Food & Beverage Captain Server
As a Captain Server with Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, you will be an ambassador for the exceptional service and cuisine that are hallmarks of our dining experience. Your engaging and anticipatory service will inspire the team and ensure the success of our banquet functions and outlet operations. Working with both our banquet and outlet operations will provide exposure to all facets of the Food & Beverage operation.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Banquets, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Follow outlet policies, procedures and service standards
  • Assist guests regarding menu items in an informative and helpful way
  • Take an active role with the training and development of new and existing staff
  • Project a pleasant and professional image to guests at all times
  • Build and maintain a high level of customer service and colleague morale through outlet promotions and colleague incentive programs
  • Assist management team to develop action plans to improve outlet performance
  • Ensure that the outlet is operating within the confines of the ALCB regulations
  • Have full knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents and preparation methods
  • Have full knowledge of beverage lists and promotions
  • Responsible for preparing and serving cocktails and other beverages on a daily basis
  • Deliver and present food items to guest tables
  • Assist and lead the function team in setting up and tearing down function spaces
  • Process guest checks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Bus and re-set tables
  • Assist and lead the team in performing opening, cleaning and closing duties
  • Report any irregularities or comments from guests
  • Adhere to the hotel’s vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel and guest vehicles
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies
  • Other duties as assigned 
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years serving experience required (must include at least 6 months a la carte service)
  • Minimum 1 year banquets experience required
  • Previous leadership experience required
  • Valid Alberta driver’s license required
  • Strong knowledge of wine, cocktails and beer required
  • Pro Serve certification required
  • Micros POS experience an asset
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimal supervision
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
  • Sitting: 0-1 hr/day
  • Walking: 6-8 hr/day
  • Standing: 6-8 hr/day
  • Bending/reaching: 6-8 hr/day
  • Pushing/pushing: 4-6 hr/day
  • Physical effort: required to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Environmental stress: high – busy atmosphere
 
Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
