Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Benihana Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Consistently offer personal and friendly service
Full knowledge of the menu, beverage lists in your outlet and all other special promotions taking place in the hotel
Ensure that the host stand is kept neat and clean at all times
Seating and greeting guests, accurately taking reservations, handling phones, menu changeovers, newspaper pickup, checking mail, filing log book entries etc.
Efficiently track all covers in the dining room per station and have general knowledge of the union agreement
Attend all pre-shift, weekly and monthly meetings to ensure open lines of communication between all employees
Actively participate in the health and safety procedures as a way to reduce workplace related accidents
Carry out any miscellaneous duties pertaining to the total operation of the outlet as requested by your direct supervisor
Maintain teamwork and good work ethics with all guest (internal and external) by assisting co-workers with any duties, without compromising the guests’ dining experience
To complete all duties assigned to you before leaving for the day
Communicate effectively with the servers regarding reservations, last minute changes, larger parties and special requests
Offer guests coat check when necessary and retrieve guest coats when departing
To ensure dining room is ready (kitchen, servers, bartenders) at time of opening
- Previous service experience an asset
- Previous Point of Sale System experience an asset
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
- Highly responsible & reliable
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
- Available to work Friday and Saturday evenings
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs
- Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
