Receiving Manager (part time, temporary - approx. 1 year)

The Receiving Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the overall security of the hotel’s receiving area, and safe operation of freight elevators while contractors, vendors and colleagues on/in hotel receiving premises. He/she acts as a member of the Purchasing, Receiving and Stores team, ensuring the safe and proper operation of the freight elevators, coordinating access and deliveries to the hotel. This individual will take a proactive role, when mechanical, environmental challenges occur and respond equally to hotel, vendor and contractor delivery concerns and will coordinates alternative access and services as required to ensure timely delivery of goods.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:               
  • Ensuring security of Receiving areas and safe operation of freight elevators for all vendors, contractors, hotel guests and colleagues 
  • Regular street and area patrols, parking and delivery control
  • Providing excellent internal and guest service
  • Assisting in the orientation of new colleagues and vendors to hotel's receiving procedures
  • Conducting elevator use assessment to determine if service required, reporting health and safety hazards
  • Operating as a member of the Purchasing and Stores team  Reporting any occurrences of accidents, complaints, criminal activity, and crisis situations
  • Responding to all alarms- elevator, local and perimeter door
  • Maintaining computer records of all actions in a daily log book
  • Other duties as directed by the Purchasing Manager, Assistant Purchasing Manager or Stores Manager
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Self-motivated individual who is animated and highly energetic
  • Excellent organization skills, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to effectively work with others in a fast paced environment
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
  • Computer knowledge of WordPerfect
  • Available for shift work including weekends and holidays based on business levels

Visa Requirements:   Must already be legally permitted to work in Canada.

 

Physical Aspects of Position include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20kg
  • Frequent kneeling, pushing and pulling
  • Frequent ascending or descending stairs and ramps
